Intel VTune Profiler Installation

Hi,

I would like to install Intel VTune profiler on my Centos 7 machine.....AFAIK, the latest version does not work on CentOS 6.. But Centos 7 is fine, isn't it?

Please help me regarding the extracting the installation package to a writeable directory with the following command:

tar -xzf vtune_profiler_.<version>.tar.gz

I am struggling with the version part. Which version should I put? I mean what should be the complete command?

Thanks in advance .-)

BR
Bobby !

Hi Bobby,

Hi Bobby,

Just replace the whole of:

vtune_profiler_.version>.tar.gz

with the name of the VTune file you downloaded, in my case this was:

vtune_profiler_2020_update1.tar.gz

Personally (out of habit) I use tar slightly differently to extract a gzip compressed tar file:

tar xvfz vtune_profiler_2020_update1.tar.gz

The 'v' makes it verbose so you see what is being extracted.

Hi Dominic,

Thanks for your reply. While installing Prerequisites I thought I already have the tar. So I was running the tar command *without* tar on my machine :-). Funny mistake from my side.....may be i needed a good sleep ...it works now :-)
