Hi,

Sorry for the delay, with latest version of Vtune 2021.9.0 System Overview analysis displays information about factors that can cause the CPU to throttle. Use this information to examine if your system is overheated or consumes significant power, both of which could result in frequency drops that affect system performance. Please find the below attached image.

Link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/documentation/vtune-help/top/analyze-performance/platform-analysis-group/system-overview-analysis.html

Where to get older versions of VTune to use throttling analysis?

I am looking to use the throttling check feature from VTUNE described here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/documentation/vtune-help/top/analyze-performance/platform-analysis-group/throttling-analysis.html

I have VTUNE version 2021.8.0 installed on linux, but the throttle analysis feature does not appear. It was introduced in the 2020 version 1 according to the release notes here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/release-notes/vtune-profiler-release-notes.html

So i wanted to download that version. The questions here:

Describe ways to get older versions but neither are useful ...

How can i get the older version, or better yet, use the throttling analysis in v2021?

Hi,

Sorry for delay, As throttling analysis is a preview feature it may or may not appear in a future production release. To access older releases you need a version that includes Intel Priority Support, the free versions do not include this. Here is a link to the online store where you can get a commercially supported version >>> https://softwarestore.intel.com/

With help of Power Usage Analysis we can see energy consumption characterization for your system. To collect power usage data, check the Analyze power usage checkbox in the HOW pane of the Configure Analysis window. (please go through below link)

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/documentation/vtune-help/top/analyze-performance/platform-analysis-group/system-overview-analysis.html

With help of socwatch command we can find temp (Temperature metrics), throt (Frequency throttling) and power (Power/energy metrics).

please go through below links:
