Todd,

I'm not sure I know the exact answer to your question, but what really lead to performance degradation is the L2 cache misses.

"2nd-level Cache Load Misses Retired" event looks like a good candidate to be measured and to be compared.

Once it's rate decreases you should gain speedup foryour application.

Hi,

Is there a way to use Vtune to determine how much of the L2 cache is being used by an application? I'm trying to determine if my application will perform better on a 3.06GHz processor with 1MB cache as compared to a 3.06GHz processor with 512kb cache. Thank you,

Todd
