Thanks for your help Alfredo.

After some further testing, I have concluded that the issue was being caused by an interaction between OBS and NVIDIA Broadcast. This can be rectified by either exiting out of NVIDIA Broadcast or by downloading the latest broadcast SDK (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/broadcasting/broadcast-sdk/resources/) which seems to allow me to have both NVIDIA Broadcast and OBS open at the same time without stuttering.

The A380 is meeting my expectations on the encoding front without issue. Can definitely recommend for those wanting to save some storage space without breaking the bank.

I recently purchased the Asrock Intel Arc A380 Challenger ITX 6GB OC for the express purpose of using AV1 encoding to record with OBS. I have a 3070 founders in my system at the same time as the A38.

When OBS is running (and not necessarily recording), while playing video, there is a brief stutter every 7-13 seconds. When OBS is closed, everything plays perfectly and there are no stutters. I can record gameplay with OBS without stuttering. I am using the latest release OBS v30.2

I have tried:

Older OBS version (v30.1.2)

Portable OBS

Different sources of video (Firefox, Chrome, and VLC all stutter)

There doesn't seem to be any other issues beyond this small stutter.

CapFrameX data was made while watching a YouTube video at 1080p (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLuTLF3x9sA) using both Chrome and Firefox (with and without OBS). *Can't upload .json files as attachments so I changed them to .txt

Arc driver version: 32.0.101.5762

Nvidia Driver: 560.70

SSU included

Hi Bugreport,

Thank you for creating a thread in Intel Communities.

I appreciate the information that you have shared. I checked each one and would like to ask your cooperation to try the following:

1. I presume that hardware acceleration is on for your browsers and video player. If I am right with my presumption, please force the Chrome to use your Nvidia card.

· From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings" and Click the results from System Settings.

· Click Desktop App.

· Browse your application. If your application is not on the list, you will need to browse for the folder where the .exe file is located.

· Click on the application name/icon.

· Click Options.

· Set the application to the Nvidia 3070 GPU.

· Click save.

Test if there will be any improvements with the Chrome browser. If there is, you can try the same with both your VLC and Firefox applications.

We will wait for your update.

Best Regards,

Alfred S

Intel Customer Support Technician

I've checked that hardware acceleration was enabled on Chrome and Firefox while also setting each application to use the 3070 GPU in Windows. The problem still exists for Firefox and VLC but is not as perceptible in Chrome (placebo?). VLC's stuttering is the most apparent and regularly occurring out of the three programs tested.

Once again I have included CapFrameX files for tests with and without OBS open. Same video. Included VLC this time around. *json to txt like last time.

Hi Bugreport,

Thank you for quickly trying our suggestion.

After reading the results of our previous recommendation, it seems there is something in OBS that is causing the issue, because even when using your Nvidia card to play videos the problem can still be observed.

I will try to check if I can find a setting within OBS that can cause this problem. I will get back to you once I have updates. While I am doing this, can you try closing Intel ARC Control before you play the videos with OBS running. To close Intel ARC Control, just right click on its icon on the system tray, then click on “Quit ARC Control”.

Best Regards,

Alfred S

Intel Customer Support Technician
