Marvel Rivals can't launch on Linux

I just wanted to report my experience with Marvel Rivals, using Ubuntu (24.04), and an Arc A750 GPU. (also using an i5 12400 CPU). I have experienced this issue since the launch of the game.
I am most recently on the open source GPU driver 4.6 Mesa 24.3.3 (from the kisak-mesa PPA, reliable and used by many). Though I have tested on the last couple versions of Mesa released since launch (I believe only two others).

I launch the game via Steam. I am able to open the splash screen before the game, but when I click "Launch" it takes a few moments and then gives me a Direct X 12 error, saying my card doesn't support Direct X 12. This is an Unreal Engine 5 error window.
I am playing on Linux. You might expect this is a proton issue because it cites Direct X, and Proton translates from DX to Vulkan with DXVK.
However, this is the only game I am experiencing this with, and it has been an issue since the launch of the game. And I have tested all the currently available Proton versions on Steam, as well as experimental and hotfix each week, and Proton GE 9 20 - 22. This problem has not been fixed yet.

I just wanted this issue to be known to the Intel driver team, because I'm worried it's being ignored by both the developers of the game and Intel's side. Because it's easy to maybe blame Linux for this.
But my experience with my Arc card on Linux for the past 6-8 months has been excellent, with really no other issues.

Also let me know if you are a player with this card who does NOT have issues with Marvel Rivals on Linux.

If people think this is more of a Proton or Marvel Rivals issue, I would appreciate being pointed to... where I can report this. And what kind of details can I add to the report.

Im sorry for the formatting, here is my PC specifications in bullet point form:
- Arc A750 GPU (Intel's card, not 3rd party) Re-bar is set to enabled in the bios, always.
- GPU Driver: Mesa 24.3.3 (also would've tested .3.2 , and .3.1)
- Ubuntu 24.04 (always latest stable)
- i5-12400 CPU, 16 GB DDR4 ram, running on an Nvme SSD.

Unreal Engine 5 error says my card does not support Direct X 12.

Able to open splash screen but unable to "Launch" the game from there.

Also an additional note, some versions of Proton seem to "skip" the splash screen and go straight to the same error window.

(These harddrive lines are confused, only the 250G [SATA], 500G [Nvme boot drive], and 1000G [SATA] are SSDs. The 2000G is an external USB HDD, and the 6000G is an internal HDD... not that this is important. The game is installed on the 1000G SATA which is not the boot drive).

The error I receive is:
"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system.
Please update your Windows 10 64-bit operating system (version 1909 or later) and upgrade your graphics card driver.
Ensure that your graphics card meets the minimum requirements (NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580)."
Reminder for the post I am on Ubuntu 24.04.

This appears in a window titled "Message".

On the latest proton and Proton GE versions, it skips the splash screen and goes straight to the error.

Thank you for your patience. Have you tried using this lanuch command SteamDeck=1 %command% on Steam? If not, please give it a try. You can refer to the attached image for guidance.

yes the issue continues, same as before. The command did not fix or change any behaviour reported. I will leave that command on the game options though, as it seems required regardless.

I am having the same issue using a B580 on CachyOS. Previously I was using Arch and also had the same issue there.

I actually recently switched from Ubuntu to CachyOS. The behaviour is identical. This appears to happen to all Intel Arc GPU users on Linux (using Proton, the only way to play).

I've since switched to Endeavor lol. Same thing, Arch-based. Same behavior as on Cachy and Ubuntu. I also tried Debian. Seems to be across any Linux distro.

Well now I'm on Endeavor OS, for other reasons. Point is behavior is the same across all Linux distros I try. So don't worry about testing on a particular distro. Ubuntu is the popular one, best test on that.

Thank you for your patience. I have attempted to replicate the issue, and it appears to be a game-related problem. The same error occurs when I tried playing on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with an RTX 4060 using the latest driver 550, Proton Hot-Fix, Proton 9.0-4, and even the Experimental version, all without success.

Given this, you might want to consider trying a different operating system for this game. Alternatively, you may wish to contact the Ubuntu for further assistance with this issue.

I am pretty sure this in Intel driver issue. I swapped my B580 for a 7900 xtx and made no other changes and the game worked without any issues. It also appears that the mesa team is aware of this issue and working on a fix. Hopefully we will see it soon.
