Core Ultra 7 265K

Z890 Asus Proart

48GB (2x24) Skill CU-DIMM DDR5 8200

Gen4 NVME's

DCS World 2.9

Drivers: 32.0.101.6881 6/4/2025

I have tested this over the last couple days and it would appear that the B580 vram utilization runs away into system ram in DCS 2.9. This will cause framerates at any resolution to drop to single digits, sometimes lower double digits. Mostly I see around 15GB total vram allocated.

I swap in my A770 and the ram utilization under the same settings/resolution is around 7-8GB.

Looking at system ram when using the B580 in DCS with this poor performance it will max out my system ram as well, on the A770 with the same settings I see a max of 35GB of 48GB allocated.

I decided to run dual GPU and dedicate the A770 in my second x8 slot just for DCS and there are no performance issues. All other games I run on the B580 as primary with no drama. Something is broken there is a probable memory leak when using the B580 in DCS 2.9.

I'll work on getting this together tomorrow. I have a second B580 coming and additional RAM. I'll do a fresh windows 11 install, latest drivers etc... and replicate the issue with the CapFrameX data.

To answer your questions.

Does the issue occur only during cutscenes? Or does it also happen during regular gameplay or menus?

Issues are only present during the gameplay and not in menus, there are no cut scenes in DCS.

When did the issue start? Was it after a specific driver update or game patch?

No I was using the current/latest driver at the time of the post: 32.0.101.6881 6/4/2025, this was a new build

What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?

I have tried TAA, FSR1 in game, then optiscaler to force XESS and FSR2 or 3. All have a similar failure mode of eating up all the ram. I have set textures and all settings to the lowest possible

Is the Resizable Bar enabled?

Yes

Have you used DDU to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?

Yes a few times

Have you tried adjusting the graphics settings?

Yes, with the goal of reducing the vram footprint as much as possible

Could you provide a screenshot of your in-game display and graphics settings?

I will tomorrow after a reinstall

Which gaming platform did you use to download the game?

DCS World website, not through steam

The game also has issues on both my B580 and A770 where if you have certain features turned on like FSR1, things like the water may not render correctly or smoke from fires/missiles may not appear. If you use TSR or MSAA with no upscaling they return. There are also times if you turn on lighting effects that you will get blinding white blurs on the screen. This is similar (although its been reduced with past driver updates) to the weird neon lights that would happen in Warzone.

I will gather the data, screen shots, videos and captures tomorrow. Thank you.

I decided to move from my CU-DIMM 48GB to a 96GB kit so I'm holding off on any changes until then. I should be able to get all the data on Wednesday or Thursday. Thank you.

I installed the new ram, 96GB DDR5 6800 (2x48), reinstalled windows. Installed the latest driver 32.0.101.6913, set DCS to "LOW" options. Set textures to medium, heat blur off, FSR1 set to .59 @ 4k and .69 @ 1440p

Now it's only using 6GB of vram in 1440p, and hitting 180fps.

4k, 9GB vram and 110fps.

It would appear I no longer have the memory leak with a fresh install and the newer driver when using the vanilla FSR1 implementation.

I think we can close this issue out as something bad on my system, or some driver wackyness.
