Both the game and Discord are experiencing performance lag when streaming a game to Discord?

I'm trying to stream Fortnite or Lost Judgment on Discord to my friends, but both my Discord and the game, even the whole system, are lagging, resulting in a lot of stuttering as well. I think it could be because Discord is using the Opus codec, and I do use 1080p at 30fps. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Are you using the desktop application or a web browser to launch Discord?
Are the issues only seen on Discord, or do you observe similar issues in other applications?

When did the issue first occur? Has this been happening before?
Have there been any recent software or hardware changes made to your system?
How did you perform the last update? Did you use a device manager-clean installation or Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) before updating to the latest graphics driver?

1. My GPU is an Intel Arc B580 12GB Gunnir Index.
2. I'm using the desktop application of Discord.
3. I just noticed that when I'm using anything that is recording, like OBS Studio, my game lags as well.
4. I have not yet asked Discord because the streaming worked fine on my laptop, which has an NVIDIA GTX 1650 TI mobile and Ryzen 5 4600H.
5. It first occurred when I tried streaming yesterday on Discord.
6. Nothing that I know so far.
7. I haven't tried using DDU, but I only used it when cleaning NVIDIA and AMD drivers back when I installed the Intel Arc drivers after I built my computer. After that, I updated my Intel Arc drivers through Intel Graphics Software.

You may try running Discord when not in admin mode. Intel is currently investigating this issue. Notably, this issue does not arise when using Discord's web version in a browser; it is isolated to the desktop application. If the issue persists, kindly try to contact Discord's technical support because the issue is only happening when using the desktop application

Hello again!

There seems to be an issue with using the Lossless Scaling application as well, as stated in this Reddit post.

Someone even left a comment on that post about capturing frames.

I was wondering if this might be connected to the streaming problem on Discord. They mentioned that the Intel Alchemist cards don’t have this issue, but the B580 does.

- Click on the gear icon located at the bottom left corner of the Discord window, next to your username. This will open the User Settings menu.

Hi another solution is unchecking "Show My Screen Share" and it works across all resolutions and framerate options. No need to disable hardware acceleration, changing codecs or w/e.

(You may need to do it twice if it doesn't work the first time)

Hardware limitations – Streaming plus running a game is resource-intensive. Check your CPU, GPU, and RAM usage in Task Manager. If they’re maxing out, lowering game graphics or stream quality can help.
Discord settings – Go to User Settings > Voice & Video and reduce stream resolution (e.g., 720p) or frame rate (30fps instead of 60fps). Also, disable hardware acceleration in Discord to see if performance improves.

I seem to be having a similar issue where my game will lag and my discord will be so choppy and robotic that no one can here me. I have turned off Hardware Acceleration and have my stream quality set to low as well.
