Hi!

I've been playing Helldivers 2 on CachyOS with my Arc B580+Ryzen 5 5600X, and i've been noticing since i started on this OS that Some textures (Like the emissive lighting on the Extraction beacon, Terminid Goop textures, Automaton radar towers, and glass textures in Mega Cities), have a tendency to flash black and pixelated. At this moment I am using Mesa Version 25.3.3.

Is there anything anyone here can do to help me with this? It's not particularly game-breaking, but is rather annoying to deal with visually.

If anyone needs any further info, i will get back as soon as i can.

-Luna

Hello Argent_Moon,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

I understand how visually distracting this texture flickering issue must be with your Arc B580 on CachyOS while playing Helldivers 2, especially with those black and pixelated flashing textures appearing on key game elements.

To help diagnose this issue properly, I'll need some additional details about your system and setup:

1) Was your system previously running a different operating system (Windows, another Linux distribution)? If so, which one?

2) Did you experience these same texture issues on the previous OS, or is this specific to CachyOS?

3) Could you provide a short video recording or clear photos showing the texture flickering issue? This will help us understand the exact nature of the problem.

4) Please share the following:

What are your PSU specifications (wattage, model)?

Processor make and model.

Motherboard make and model.

Amount of memory (RAM).

Display/monitor configuration (resolution, refresh rate, model)?

Display cables (info/type such as: DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.) are you using to connect your monitor?

5) What troubleshooting steps have you already tried to resolve this issue?

6) Where was the game (Helldivers 2) purchased? This will be used if we proceed with issue replication.

This information will help us determine if this is a driver-specific issue, hardware compatibility problem, or OS-related configuration matter.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Haii Jeanette!

So, my system previously ran Windows, and this issue was not present as far as I was aware, so it is likely something to do with Linux or how Proton runs the game with the B580.

The video attached to this message is of my attempts at gathering footage of the phenomenon. It's heavily compressed down to be able to fit the file size limit within the Intel Forums. I hope it does provide adequate material.

As for the specs, my psu is a Corsair RM750x, from 2018. It has been stable. I am running a Ryzen 5 5600X, on an ASUS TUF Gaming B550 WIFI-II motherboard. I have 32GB of DDR4-3600 Memory, specifically a 2x16GB kit of Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB. The monitor config I have rn is an an Acer Nitro XV272U 2560x1440 27" Monitor running 2560x1440@120Hz and an MSI MAG 27C6F 1920x1080 27" Monitor running at 1920x1080@180Hz. I am running DisplayPort Cables to both monitors at this moment.

As for troubleshooting steps, I have ensured that my Mesa and Firmware Drivers are updated to the latest version, and tried different launch settings to try and solve the issue.

Helldivers 2 was bought on Steam, and run through Steam.

Have a very good day,

Luna

Hello Argent_Moon,

I apologize for the duplicate response - you're absolutely right that I missed your detailed reply and sent the same message twice. That was my mistake.

Thank you for the comprehensive information about your setup. Your theory about this being a Linux/Proton compatibility issue with the B580 makes sense, especially since it worked fine on Windows.

Your system specs look good - the RM750x PSU and Ryzen 5 5600X with 32GB RAM should handle the B580 well.

I'll review your video and investigate this issue further. I'll update you once I have more information.

Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the confusion.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi Jeanette,

I am updating here to say that I have managed to fix my flickering issue.

By inputting the following command into my Steam Launch Options:

gamemoderun PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 %command% --use-d3d11

I was able to fix the incessant flickering issue that i was talking about.

This was likely an issue between Mesa and DX12, maybe with Proton in the mix.

Either way, this issue has been solved, and I would like to mark it as such.

To anyone who has this issue in the future, I really hope this helps you out,

Much Love,

Luna
