Hello Scafatiello,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your response, and please accept my sincere apologies for the frustration this experience has caused you. I completely understand your frustration. You explicitly stated you have always had Resizable BAR enabled. After reviewing your SSU log file, here is an explanation of what is happening with your i7-9700K setup:

Compatibility: Intel Arc graphics cards require a 10th Gen Intel Core processor or newer to be supported. Because the i7-9700K is a 9th Gen processor, your configuration is considered unlisted.

For configurations not listed in our compatibility guide, there may be ongoing performance or stability issues. In your case, this instability is occurring during the software installation process, where the installer detects the 9th Gen platform and stops with an error.

Other users running Arc graphics cards on 9th Gen motherboards have reported similar installation limitations because the installer applies strict validation on unlisted configurations, even when Resizable BAR is enabled.

Because this hardware mismatch may continue to cause installation and stability issues, I highly recommend upgrading to a supported 10th Generation or newer processor for optimal performance.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Best regards,

Nikhil

Every single time i tried to update Game On driver in the past year it gave me this error. After this i always need to restart the sistem, re-launching the same pre-installed .exe (in this case gfx_win_101.8826.exe but it doesen't matter wich one is it) and then it finally works. But if i don't restart the sistem it's always like this. Please fix. I'm attaching error log.

Hello Scafatiello,

Thank you for posting your query on the Intel Community Forum!

I sincere apologies for the frustration this driver update loop has caused you over the past year.

Your error log shows that a corrupted legacy background service IntelGFXFWupdateTool Tool from an older driver version is blocking the update and causing Exit Code: 1. To fix this permanently so you no longer need to reboot and reinstall every time, please follow these two steps:

1. Perform a Clean Installation Using DDU

Use this official guide to completely wipe the corrupted remnants before running your new installer: Intel Guide: How to Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)

2. Share your SSU Log

Once the installation is complete, please generate a system log so we can verify the fix: Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*

Important: Open the utility, click scan, and ensure the "Network" box is unchecked before saving the log.

Once I receive the requested information, we will review the logs and determine the appropriate next steps.

I appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Nikhil

Intel Customer Support Technician

I'll do it right now. Hoping for the best.

But keep in mind that i have tried in the past already to use DDU and performed afterwards a clean installation but the error was still there.

What happens is: i have an old driver installe --> i download newer Game On driver --> select new installation remove oneApi, computing program and auto update thing and leave only driver itself and intel graphic software. At the end i get the error.

Francesco

Hello Scafatiello,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for providing the Intel SSU log. I completely understand your frustration that this driver update issue has persisted over the past year, especially since you have already attempted clean installations with DDU.

While analyzing your hardware configuration log to find a permanent solution, data flagged a critical platform bottleneck that is severely impacting your system. Please find the essential fix outlined below:

Enable Resizable BAR (Critical Performance Fix):

The log reveals that Resizable BAR (ReBAR) is currently disabled on your system. Your Intel Arc A770 strictly requires ReBAR to function optimally. Without this feature active, your graphics card is experiencing massive performance drops (often 20% to 40% lower FPS) and severe stuttering in modern games.

To correct this and ensure your hardware communicates properly:

Update Motherboard BIOS: Your ASUS PRIME Z390-A motherboard is running an older BIOS (Version 2004 from 2021). Please visit the official ASUS support site, update to the latest available BIOS version, and ensure CSM is disabled (pure UEFI mode).

Enable BIOS Settings: Once updated, enter your BIOS menu, navigate to the Advanced settings, and enable both Above 4G Decoding and Resizable BAR Support (set to Auto/Enabled).

Prioritizing this motherboard BIOS adjustment is highly recommended, as it will unlock the true gaming performance and stability of your graphics card.

Please let us know if you have any questions or require further assistance with these settings.

I appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your update.

Best regards,

Nikhil

Intel Customer Support Technician

I'll try to be more clear, hoping your answers aren't automatically generated. i have always had resizable Bar enabled. Again, i have no idea what made you believe that i had it disabled in that log file. Anyways I still cannot comprehend how this setting has anything to do with the issue i'm facing. For the sake of clarity i did eventually update BIOS yesterday after you pointed out i was using an older version for my motherboard and i did re-enable REBAR. But still cannot comprehend... " ".

Finally, I'll just say that I won't be continuing with the troubleshooting: from now on, I'll limit myself to reporting new bugs and inaccuracies on this forum. I don't think it's up to me to figure out what's wrong and try again and again until it's clear.

From now on i'll be lowering my expectations on the support you provide via the forum. Incidentally, and this is where I'll really end, I made a similar post on Reddit and found feedback from other users experiencing the same problem.

Thx for consideration.

Francesco
