Inquiry: Adaptive Sync / FreeSync Support in the New Intel Graphics Software

Hello Intel Team,
I am an active user of the new Intel Arc B580 graphics card, and I would like to ask a question regarding the features of the new "Intel Graphics Software" ecosystem.
As a gamer and content creator who closely monitors high frame rates and aims for the lowest possible input latency, display synchronization is highly important to my workflow. I am curious about the current status and roadmap of this new application regarding variable refresh rate technologies.
With that in mind, I would like to ask:
Does the new Intel Graphics Software currently feature or support Adaptive Sync / FreeSync management natively within the application?
If this feature is not currently included, is it planned to be brought to the software in future driver updates?

Thank you for reaching out and for being such an enthusiastic Intel Arc B580 user! It is great to hear from someone who is so invested in getting the best possible gaming and content creation experience.

So to answer your question, there are a couple of important things I would like to confirm on your end to make sure everything is set up correctly and that the feature works as expected for you.

Your monitor will need to support VESA Adaptive Sync. Even if your Arc B580 is capable of enabling the feature, the display itself has to be compatible for variable refresh rate technology to function properly.
Please make sure you are using a DisplayPort cable to connect your monitor to your graphics card. At this time, Adaptive Sync through the Intel Graphics Software is not supported over HDMI, so a DisplayPort connection is required for this feature to work.

To help me look further into your setup and provide you with the most accurate guidance, I would also like to kindly ask you to run the Intel System Support Utility, or SSU, on your system.

I'm using it with HDMI because that's the only cable I have, and I don't have a DP cable, and unfortunately I don't have the money to buy one right now. So, when will HDMI support be available, or will it even be available at all?

This data indicates that the monitor is connected via HDMI and supports HDMI 2.0. It explicitly supports AMD FreeSync (48–144 Hz). Intel cards cannot output the AMD FreeSync protocol. While HDMI 2.1 VRR might be a possibility over HDMI, that is unfortunately ruled out because the monitor is limited to HDMI 2.0.

You will get the best results by using the monitor via DisplayPort. What the monitor manual refers to as "G-Sync" actually corresponds to the industry standard VESA AdaptiveSync when using DisplayPort. The Intel Arc B580 is capable of outputting this via DisplayPort.

A DisplayPort cable is very cheap. In your case, it does not need to meet any special requirements.
