Forspoken v.1.22: Is new AMD FSR 3 + Frame Generation always crashing on Intel Arc?

forspoken updated to version 1.22 today,

and is now the first game released with AMD's new FSR3 + Frame Generation feature.

In theory - as communicated across the internet - I thought this should work on any 'modern/recent' GPU regardless of vendor/manufacturer, including Intel Arc dGPUs as well,

however, it appears to be like this, currently:

so, as title says , can you try out if the game Forspoken ( or DirectX) is really always crashing,

as soon as you enable FSR 3 + frame generation, as seen in above video?

(you don't even have to buy the game, there's a free Demo for everybody on steam eg. and it's been also updated to v.1.22 which includes FSR3+frame gen..)

I've googled the directx error message displayed in above video, and it has been mentioned before, but back then related to a nvidia rtx 4070 (ti) crashing randomly, long before that new patch that rolled out today..

unfortunately I can't check it out myself because currently I switched out my Arc A770 for a RX 6700 XT,

as I'm in the middle of creating some extensive benchmark & image quality comparisons throughout all sorts of games, mostly those that already offer XeSS as well..

just wanted to give a small heads-up,

because as of right now, I'm not sure if the creator of the game Forspoken,

or AMD as the developer of FSR3,

and also Intel , responsible for Arc & it's drivers, are even aware of the issue right now.

I wish I had a second test-rig so I don't have to switch cards all the time, but can't afford it right now (unless someone would be willing to sponsor/donate )

long answer:

I finally also tried now on my own Arc A770 16GB VRAM,

with 32GB RAM same driver *.4826 ,

and it did crash, only once,

on first launch after update, when trying to activate FSR3 .

however, on second attempt I lowered every other detail setting including resolution first,

then I was able to activate FSR3 + Framegen.

(forspoken steam demo v 1.22)

didn't find FSR3 or FSR3+FrameGen any useful at all,

havent found acceptable settings for 1440p with significantly more than 60fps without crippling either frametimes or image quality/stability,

imho the new frame generation feature from AMD has very limited use cases,

(and basically you already need at least stable 60 fps to start with before you should even think about activating it, for acceptable results)

so I switched back to XeSS + custom settings for 60 fps capped, at least in this game.

well see what Intel will come up with ( I hope they got something they're working on and that it will be good, just like current XeSS),

and maybe wait for next games with FSR3/framegen and first bug fix releases from AMD/game developers.

In case this issue is not solved, to have a better understanding of the situation, please answer the following questions:

Does the issue happen with older drivers?
I see you have shared some videos that shows the game settings they use, just in case we need them for a reproduction of the issue, can you provide us with screenshots of the game settings that you use?
To know your system configurations, save and attach the report for the following tool Intel® System Support Utility for Windows (SSU), you can find the steps on the link How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows.
