Hi Donald,

The only way I am able to reproduce the issue is by deleting/renaming/changing the already installed directory of intelpython3.
I have renamed the directory after installation and attempted to uninstalled from "Settings > Apps > installed apps". The following error appears.

To better understand the scenario, could you please answer the following questions?

1. Which type of installation is used, is it JustMe or Allusers?
2. Did you install the same installer multiple times in multiple locations?
3. Can you verify if you are able to locate any registry entries at location "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\intelpython3 2025.0.0_165 (Python 3.12.5 64-bit)"

Please use the following help to verify the question 3.
1. Press Win + R.
2. Type regedit and press Enter.
3. Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
4. Look for "intelpython3 2025.0.0_165 (Python 3.12.5 64-bit)" (installed version of Intel Distribution for Python that you are referring.)

Regards,
Gireesh

On Microsoft Windows 11 Pro 24H2, the list in "Settings," "Apps," "Installed apps," still includes "intelpython3 2025.0.0_165 (Python 3.12.5 64-bit)" after uninstalling. See the attached screenshot for the error message generated when attempting to uninstall a second time.

This appears to be a defect in the installer software for the Intel Distribution for Python on Microsoft Windows. Is there a fix for this?

Hi Donald,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce your issue. Can you please share the steps you followed to install and uninstall the Intel® Distribution for Python*? Do you still have the intelpython3 folder where you installed it?

Regards,

Thank you for attempting to reproduce this issue. I performed a full installation using the Windows installation tool distributed by Intel. I installed to an "intelpython3" subdirectory of the current user's home directory. I then performed an uninstallation as described in my original post. The "intelpython3" has been deleted as expected. It seems that the record within Windows "Installed Apps" was never removed.

Hi Donald,

If the program still appears in the list after restarting your computer, I recommend contacting Microsoft for assistance. They may have a troubleshooter specifically designed to address issues with program installations and removals on Windows 11. While I found a troubleshooter at this link: Microsoft Support, it seems to be supported only on older versions of Windows.

Regards,
