Locating IFWI_IN BIOS image for SlimBootloader to load on our Customer Reference Board

Hello,

We are currently trying to build a custom UEFI image using SlimBootloader for the Intel Alder Lake-N Customer Reference Board. Can you please point us to where we can download the IFWI_IN BIOS firmware image to stitch the SlimBootloader output package into, as mentioned in 2) on https://slimbootloader.github.io/supported-hardware/adl-rvp.html#stitching, or provide instructions on how to generate this ourselves?

Thank you for your swift reply.

Our CRB was provided by AAEON, and our Intel SoCs are provided by our Intel distrubutor in Europe.

Please see attached a photo of the top marking. My colleague @Omar34 who also recently posted in the forum here is referencing the same board.

Hi @CarlosAM_INTEL ,

Just to add some more information, I have used a DediProg SF600Plus-G2 to read the the contents of the BIOS flash on the CRB, saved it to a file called "intel-bios-flash.bin", but this was rejected as an IFWI_IN image as well with the error "BIOS image is too big to fit into BIOS region!"

How can I stitch my read-back BIOS with my SlimBootloader source code?

Subject: Request for Base IFWI_IN Firmware Image for Alder Lake-N CRB Slim Bootloader Stitching

We are currently developing a custom UEFI firmware for the Intel Alder Lake-N Customer Reference Board using Slim Bootloader. As part of the stitching workflow (referenced at https://slimbootloader.github.io/supported-hardware/adl-rvp.html#stitching), we require the IFWI_IN reference BIOS image that serves as the base for generating the final <SBL_IFWI_IMAGE_NAME>.

python Platform/AlderlakeBoardPkg/Script/StitchLoader.py -i <BIOS_IMAGE_NAME> -s Outputs/<plat>/SlimBootloader.bin -o <SBL_IFWI_IMAGE_NAME>

I'm talking about the BIOS_IMAGE_NAME here. I saw the solution you gave but that didn't solve my problem, the guide just has booting instructions. I have the Developer Zone Premier access.
Could you please direct us to the appropriate download location for the Alder Lake-N CRB IFWI/BIOS image, or provide instructions on how this IFWI file can be created?

I am currently working with Intel Client Reference Boards and Slim Bootloader (SBL), and I had a few questions regarding IFWI, SBL, and UEFI customization for different Intel SBCs. I would appreciate your guidance.

IFWI image tied to specific SoC
The CRB I have is based on the Intel® Processor N350. As far as I understand, the IFWI image generated for this platform is SoC-specific.
Can you please confirm whether an IFWI image built for N350 will not boot or run correctly on boards based on Intel® Processor N100?
Flashing Slim Bootloader on Radxa X4
I would like to experiment with flashing Slim Bootloader on a Radxa X4 board.
- Is it technically possible to boot Radxa X4 using SBL?
- Since the IFWI image I can currently build is for N350, how would one go about creating an SBL/IFWI image that can boot on Radxa X4 (which uses a Intel N100).
- Are there board-specific prerequisites (FSP binary, GPIO/PMIC configuration, flash layout, etc.) that would block this?
Making UEFI images specific to SBCs
If the goal is to build UEFI firmware tailored for specific SBCs:
- What changes are typically required in Slim Bootloader?
- What changes are required in UEFI itself (for example: ACPI tables, device descriptions, GPIO, PCIe, USB, Type-C, etc.)?
- Are there recommended references or examples for SBC-specific ACPI and board initialization?
