Enabling Boot Guard for Slim Bootloader

I'm trying to enable Boot-Guard with SBL.

I'm using Up-Xtreme-i11 board which has Tiger Lake-UP3.

I'm working on Ubuntu 18.04.

I've followed the instruction on document #646640 however I get the following error from fit:

Loading XML file: /home/user/Temp/updated.xml
Loading XML file: /home/user/Temp/updated.xml
fit: ../code/util/fitfileio.cpp:88: readFile: Assertion `buffer != NULL' failed.
Error in running process:
./Fit/fit -b -o Temp/Ifwi.bin -f /home/user/Temp/updated.xml -s /home/user/Temp -w /home/user/Temp -d /home/user/Temp

How can I check what is causing the error?
