Hi,

Does anybody know how the MRC training work?

We are using DDR4 parts support up to 3200 speed grade

and set to 2400 speed grade in SPD EEPROM.

The Intel Whiskey Lake U SOC can support max. of 2400 speed grade DDR4.

In BIOS, the maximum memory frequency is set to [Auto].

Does MRC training automatically downgrade to 2133 speed then re-do the MRC training

when MRC training failed at 2400 speed at the very beginning run?

My answers to your questions:

1. Have you checked with the laptop manufacturer to confirm that their BIOS and motherboard support 2400MHz?

Answer: Yes, our boards work at 2133 and 2400MHz. The BIOS set Maximum Memory Frequency of 2400MHz.

2. What is the exact processor and computer that you are using?

Answer: We use Intel i7-8665UE processor. We build our own computers.

3. Can you provide more details about your request?

Answer: We just want to be sure our boards will work with either 2400MHz or 2133MHz with the quality variations of PCBs.

The SPD is set to 2400 speed grade.

It all depends on the Intel MRC Training Algorithm.

If MRC training ever encounter errors at 2400 speed

will MRC re-train at 2133 automatically?

Or MRC training just run at one specific speed set by SPD and BIOS setting only?
