JHL6340 Thunderbolt 3 Controller sample & datasheet request

Hello,

I'm looking to build a PCI-Express-Thunderbolt adapter from an open-source design (this one: https://openhardware.antmicro.com/boards/thunderbolt-pcie-adapter) by Antmicro, where I once worked as a Hardware Designer. However, now I'm doing this as a part of my Master's Thesis in Electronic Engineering on Wrocław University of Science and Technology (in Poland), with no other connection to Antmicro than my past experience and the design itself, used accordingly with its MIT license.

It uses an Intel JHL6340 Thunderbolt controller along with a Texas Instruments USB PD controller.

I wanted to ask, what is the current procedure for obtaining the controller's IC samples or purchasing them?

I would also like to request access to the relevant datasheets and tools for it.

I already tried accessing the Intel Design Premiere using my student e-mail, but I get the following error:

AADSTS90072: User account '<my student e-mail is here>' from identity

provider 'https://sts.windows.net/d0da435b-a7e7-4d74-a4ae-f72cf8f3b2db/'

does not exist in tenant 'Intel Corporation' and cannot access the application

'https://designintools.intel.com/nma/auth/saml2'(Intel Design In Tools Store)

in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the

tenant ﬁrst. Sign out and sign in again with a diﬀerent Azure Active

Directory user account.

It is mandatory to have a Premier account to have access to the documents that you may need as it is restricted information. Please check the following link:

Also, you will need an enterprise email, if the University has some contract with Intel, I think you have to talk with some representative as these kind of accesses aren't available to anyone as there are some confidentiality agreements.

I think you can try to look for an Intel Sales Representative near your zone, to ask if it is possible to get the help you may need.
