i210 programming for sgmii

hi,

we designed a custom board on which we have i210 with ARM. this is not our first board with this configuration and in the past we've been using eepromarmtool to program it successfully.

in our system we have a 4 mbit flash and noticed that SGMII images are for 8 mbit flash but half of it is empty (0xff). from other threads i read that images are signed and it may not be sufficient to just change the eeprom size word in the image in order to have it working. is this correct?

if an image is required, is there any particular reason why there is no 4 mbit image for sgmii while half the memory for 8 mbit is empty?

Hi,

yes, it's a technical question. if you read my message i stated that we need to program EEPROM for I210 in the SGMII version and have a 4 mbit flash. the production images that we can download are for 8 mbit and 16 mbit flashes. we tried to modify the flash image so that the flash size is 4 mibt but i read that the file is signed and can't be modified just this way as it needs to be signed again. now, my question is if it's possible to use a 4 mbit flash with SGMII and if so how do i get the right image for the flash.
