how let intel 82599 controller dispatch(proxy) lldp packet to underlying VFs ? can it be achieved by modifying ixgbe driver code?

Our case is app inside KVM need LLDP packet from VF. So we'd like to know how to enable this. Can this be achieved by hack ixgbe driver code or just do some proper settings for the driver ?

Before we proceed, please confirm if you are using ixgbe driver and if yes, please provide the link where you downloaded the driver.

hi Michael,

yes, we are using kvm linux.

ixgbe driver version: 5.5.3，it is included in the kvm host kernel.

and it seems we can not turn on vf trust:

ip link set dev eth4 vf 1 trust on

Command line is not complete. Try option "help"

we are now being able to turn on trust vf. But seems vf don't get LLDP packet which is received by PF.

turn on trust : ip link set dev xxx vf xxx trust on

lspci show they are onbard nic:

Physical Slot: 0-9

And by the way, our ixgbe driver version is 5.5.3 . ixgbevf drvier version is 3.2.2-k

OSPF multipcast packet can not be received by vf.
