I'm trying to find the most current driver for my PRO/100 PT Dual server adapter for use with Windows Server 2008 R2. All of the support links that I've followed lead to PROVISTAX64.exe which is not compatible with my OS. I can find a previous release (14.7) of PROWIN7X64.exe, but no current one. Is the support site messed up or am I missing something here?

That's exactly what I've been doing, Aryan. I scroll down to my product, D50868-xxx PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter, click the link to "Latest Drivers" and that takes me to http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-006120.htm http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-006120.htm. From there I click the http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 PROWIN7X64.exe link and that takes me to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 which downloads PROVISTAX64.exe which doesn't work. I tried running PROVISTAX64.exe on 2008 R2 and I get a "not supported on this platform" message.

Thanks for using Intel Ethernet products. I am also sorry it is so difficult to find the driver for the NIC you have in your system. I did some hunting around, and I believe you should be able to use the following SW release to load drivers for Server 2008 R2 for the PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server adapter:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910&lang=eng

Please post back to the forum and let me know if it works for you or not. The driver version is 9.13.16.0. If it does work I will ask that our driver release page for this NIC is updated.

Again, thank you for using Intel Ethernet products!

Cheers,

-- miles

PS: I think that Mark the guru is out on vacation right now.

Thanks Miles, but even thought that looks like the correct download location, the file it leads to is PROVISTAX64.exe which, as the name implies, is a Vista driver, not a Win7/R2 one.

BTW, the reason I'm looking for a driver update is that the DNS service on my server fails to autostart at bootup with a "network is not present or not started" error. I've narrowed the cause down to NIC teaming, and was hoping the driver update might help.
