I’m using the original Intel X550-T2 network adapter in my Proxmox server. However, after updating to firmware version 3.70, ASPM is no longer functioning. I have the original firmware backup, but I’m unable to perform a rollback due to restrictions.

Without ASPM, the X550-T2 is consuming excessive power (12-13W), which is unacceptable given the latest firmware update compared to the stock manufacturing firmware (I believe version 1.0.0) I purchased at a high price.

Here’s the log from my attempt to perform the rollback:
<LI-CODE lang="markup">Intel(R) Ethernet NVM Update Tool

Anyone <LI-EMOJI id="lia_slightly-smiling-face" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"></LI-EMOJI> ? Is this Forum dead ?

Just fyi, without Intel X550-T2, my proxmox server has a power consumption of 21 W idle. (i3-13100, 1 SSD Lexar NM790 2TB, 1 HDD WD Red Pro 8TB and internal NIC Realtek 2.5 GbE, nothing more, all aspm turned on via BIOS and linux, incl powertop and cpu governor to powersave).

As soon as the X550-T2 is in on a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, without ethernet wires connected, the server idles at 40 W, as the X550-T2 starts blocking ASPM also for other devices without providing any value to the server...

If I turn on the VM where X550-T2 is fully passed through (OVMF, PCIe), the server idles at 32 W (no eth wires connected), strange.

I hope Intel fixes the ASPM issue very soon.

Hi Fikri,

Sorry for my late reply, I had given up after a few weeks.

But now you're giving me hope ! <LI-EMOJI id="lia_slightly-smiling-face" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"></LI-EMOJI>

1) Here are the numbers I find on my X550-T2 (I hope it's the right ones I found on Intel help pages what should be PBA and MM):

PBA: H86377-007

MM: I cannot find it, but I attached two pictures (top and bottom) of my X550-T2. There are plenty of numbers.

Date of manufacture: 12/2024, Made in Thailand

2) If I remember correctly it was something with 1.0.X. I have the 3 files in the folder starting with ECE... The files are .rollback.cfg and two files with folder name and .bin and .flb

3) Current Proxmox Kernel is

Linux 6.8.12-11-pve (2025-05-22T09:39Z)

I can put back the X550-T2 if there is a chance of rolling back and making ASPM run again. However, I didn't use the X550-T2 with this pve version since ASPM didn't work at the time I asked in January.

Does this help ?

Cheers, Blinton
