I tried using the 20.7 UEFI Ethernet Driver E7006X3.EFI, but I see that I217 support has been removed. Why?

I need I217-LM support in this driver.

Going back I see the last time it was in the Driver was version 20.0, E6604X3.EFI.

Can I217 support please be added back into future builds?

Thank You

Hi Vince:

Since there is no I217 support in the UEFI Driver, you cannot make use of the I217 during preboot, like at the UEFI Shell. You cannot do any networking at the UEFI Shell thru that port since the driver is ignoring the port.

So the failure is that the Ethernet port is simply "not there", whereas before we could see it and could do preboot networking to it (in the UEFI world).

Regards,

-- Bob

Hi Yahoo, based on the description, if your i210 and i217 are ethernet controller built-in to the system board, E0013X7.EFI should be the required driver.

Hi Yahoo,

We will have to build the driver for i210 support. What is it that you were trying to accomplish with EFI support?

Sincerely,

Sandy

Hi Sandy:

I don't really understand the question....isn't it somewhat obvious?

I have a system that has I210 and I217 onboard. We use UEFI for our firmware. Out customers use FTP in the pre-boot space using the UEFI Network stack to accomplish this. We also do UEFI PXE boot.

This support "used to be built-in", until 20.0. Why did that have to change?

We have various other boards with other Intel Ethernet controllers onboard. Some of these are the X552, XL-710, and 82599. Can you please see if these would also be supported (by the same driver)? I think the XL-710 might not be able to be; but support for the others would be most helpful.

Thank You.

Hello Yahoo,

Thank you for your information. We'll check on the available drivers for the built-in adapters and will update you on our findings.

Sincerely,

Sandy

Dear Bob,

If you have the adapter's driver version 21.0, please use the EFI driver below:

...\APPS\EFI\EFIx64\E7107X3.EFI

The changes in the UEFI driver supported adapters are due to the driver updates wherein some features are either added or removed.

Hope this help fix the issue.

Sincerely,

Sandy

Sandy:

It has been over 2 months since I submitted this question, and we are no further along now.

This image, the E7107X3.EFI from release 21.0, does NOT have I217 support built in!

As I mentioned before, I need I217 and I210 (and likely others) built into the same .EFI file (as these Ethernet devices are on my companies mainboard).

Can you please work with the people in your company to restore this functionality?

Thank You
