Hi Tom,

As this is an OEM part from Dell, have you check with Dell also? What is the LR fiber you used for the XL710? Is it from Dell* supported fiber module?

There might be compatibility issue connecting to the device mentioned.

http://www.omnitron-systems.com/iconverter-10gxt-10-100-1000-to-10g-fiber-media-converter.php

Have you check with the Omniron system vendor?

rgds,

wb

Same issue - we are connecting to a 1000Base-LX device with an Intel XL710 and a E10GLR optic.

We are using the latest driver and the latest NVM. Machine is a Dell R330 with firmware supplied by Dell.

configuration: autonegotiation=off broadcast=yes driver=i40e driverversion=1.5.25 duplex=full firmware=5.04 0x800024c9 17.5.11 latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes port=fibre speed=10Gbit/s

Oddly, if the remote side is a X520-DA2 with a E10GLR optics, and a force that side to 1G, I get link and can ping. However, no 3rd party 1000Base-LX devices get link.

We are also deeply disappointed that DOM (ethtool -m) support has not been written into the i40e driver.

Please advise.

Hi Thomasdaly5,

Can you share the serial number of this network adapter? (located at the network adapter itself, containing three parts, 15 digits + 6 digits + 6 digits - xxx) Is this an OEM Dell NIC?

What is the 1000 LX device that you try to connected to?

I sent a PM to you also.

Thanks,

wb

Hi wb,

I'll send the Serial Number via PM.

The NIC is a Dell OEM part.

The remote side is an Omnitron Systems iConverter 10GXT with a genuine Omnitron LX optic.

http://www.omnitron-systems.com/iconverter-10gxt-10-100-1000-to-10g-fiber-media-converter.php http://www.omnitron-systems.com/iconverter-10gxt-10-100-1000-to-10g-fiber-media-converter.php

We have also tested with a cheap HP switch and 3rd party optics - X710 won't work, X520 does.

Thanks,

Tom
