Face tracking algorithm details

Hello,

What kind of face tracking algorithm is the one implemented in the RealSense SDK v3? I'm using the face tracking sample, but I'm wondering if it possible to get more information about the nature of this algorithm.

Thanks for your interest in the Intel RealSense Technology.

The Intel RealSense SDKs available are the 2016 R2 and 2016 R3, I'm not sure if you are referring to the R3, if not please clarify that. On the other hand regarding the Face Tracking algorithm I would encourage you to analyze the source code which is available in https://software.intel.com/sites/landingpage/realsense/camera-sdk/v2016r3/documentation/html/index.html?doc_face_face_tracking_and_recognition.html the Intel RealSense SDK documentation for viewing and use.

Additionally, please keep in mind that the Face algorithm in the SDK is at alpha maturity: http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/9560/release_notes_RealSense_SDK_2016_Face_Detection_v11.0.pdf Intel® RealSense SDK Face Detection & Tracking - Release notes, which means that some features may or may not work.

Thanks for your answer. I am using the 2016 R3 version. However, from the documentation it is not specified the algorithm behind the face tracking module. What I'd like to know is the nature of this algorithm (model-based? something like an Active Appearance Model?)

Unfortunately, we can't disclose that level of information, we'd suggest to browse through the SDK documentation to understand how they work.
