D415 Windows Hello support

We wanted to use the Intel RealSense D415 camera with Windows Hello facial recognition, but we're unable to configure it in Windows. The camera is connected to the USB 3.0 port, the RGB and Depth drivers are shown in the Device Manager, and the Camera UWP app is also working with the D415. When we're trying to configure Windows Hello facial recognition in the Settings app, it shows an error, that it is unable to turn on the camera.

Does D415 support Windows Hello facial recognition? If not, will be expected to support it in the near future with a driver update?

Intel support agent Juan said on February 18 that "I have checked with engineering and they have confirmed that support for Windows Hello with the new D400 family will never be developed".

What Intel has done is to open the door for 3rd parties... If you listen carefully, what they are saying is that if you develop facisl recognition, they won't be competing with you. It is inconceivable to me that that facial recognition using the D400 series won't be developed.

this was obtained with the D415, emitter off, using stereo analysis of this stereogram:

Admittedly you have to do the analysis yourself, but there is a world full of experts available. This is raw data the only filtering was to put a virtual limit on the background... digital green screen.

There are lots of ways to clean up the noise and fill in the blanks:)

A face scanner will have to use 2 cameras... notice the occlusions caused by my cinematic nose:)

Intel are encouraging third parties to develop solutions in partnership with them, and also welcome GitHub contributions from community members. An example of this is the community-contributed samples and guides in the Community Projects section of the SDK 2.0 samples web-page, and the Nuitrack skeletal tracking software.

Hello Skwerl,

Intel encourages the community to innovate using RealSense technology including developing solutions for facial recognition. However, Windows Hello is a separate technology, specific to Microsoft Windows 10. Intel does not plan to support this feature on the D400 series cameras
