Visual Studio 2026 Support

Visual Studio 2026 was released 11 November 2025. The release notes for the latest Intel Fortran release 2025.3.1 only lists Visual Studio 2022 and 2019 support.

Any idea when Intel Fortran will support Visual Studio 2026?

+1 can't wait for Intel Fortran to support VS2026. The ability to integrate your Anthropic Keys for AI support in Fortran projects will be great.

As is happens I needed to do something in C# which isn't loaded in my VS2022 and then discovered that for VS community 2026 is now the only game in town for download. Thankfully it didn't mess up my 2022 install. It will be nice when it has Fortran support as I do no like too much clutter.

Intel is working on the new compiler updates to introduce support. Note that it usually comes with a new minor version update. Please expect to receive it at the end of next month.

Any update on the timing of the next release (2026.0 / 2026.1)? Previously the Intel estimate, per your note above, appeared to be Jan 2026. Now that it's 3 Feb, it will be useful to understand what might be released and when by Intel. A team I work with has resurrected a simulation package I had previously authored in Fortran using IFORT. But now they are using Visual Studio 2026 and would like to use IFX with it towards this simulation package and they have asked for my assistance and request feedback for their planning purposes.

The support for Visual Studio 2026 is introduced in the latest compiler update (ifx version 2025.3.2), which is available for downloading: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/oneapi/fortran-compiler-download.html

Note that you may also use a whole oneAPI HPC Toolkit bundle, which includes the latest IFX version. Note that the Intel Fortran Expression Evaluator should be installed alongside the compiler via the Visual Studio Extension Manager. It is important to get a correctly functioning debugger.

When will be the oneAPI Version 2025.3.2 base and HPC pack be avalilable for download?

I suspect never. This is a Fortran patch release so would guess for a fresh install you install the last oneapi and hpc and then apply this patch and also the fee install.

There should be a full new release due soon but I guess that is delayed hence the patch release which is not normal.

You need to install only the latest oneAPI HPC Toolkit - it has latest IFX version 2025.3.2 included. Other option is to install only the IFX compiler - no need to install HPC Toolkit in that case.

This is running on VS 2026 it is simplest to just grab the oneapi and it installs nicely and the editor is a treat.
