Turns out there's more than that. As you mentioned, there's:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/microsoft/windows/current version/uninstall/Installshield_{long_key}

And also these two:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/microsoft/windows/current version/Installer/UserData/xxxx/Products/long_key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/classes/Installer/Products/long_key

That does the trick. Whew.

BTW, the newest update still didn't fix the compiler abort on code I've been trying to convert from DEC, er, Compaq Fortran 6. Still have an escalated bug report pending since January.

Tried to uninstall IVF 8 preparatory to installing a new version. Yes, everything's in the same partition. Get Unhandled Exception, error 0x80004005 in setup during the uninstall. And now I can't install a new(er) version. No, PreUninstallIfort.exe didn't change anything.

Is there a brute force regedit way of removing IVF 8 from the registry?

The link just removes IVF from the list of add/remove programs. That doesn't change the fact that IVF is still installed. And you can't install a newer version of IVF atop an older installed one.

The folks who create the install package must know all the registry keys that have to be deleted in order to (manually) uninstall IVF. Else I'm forced to muck around in the registry myself, an ugly task.

Try this (excerpted from a support response):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/microsoft/windows/current version/uninstall and then right click on the uninstall folder, click on find, and then type in fortran in the search box. This should show you any keys containing the word fortran. Please look through these keys to see if there is a key for Fortran Compiler version 8.0. If so, please delete this key.

Also, please check and make sure there are no fortran80 directories under c:program filesintelfortran . If there are, please delete those folders and their contents too.

Good about the uninstall.

I see the case you mention - you did the right thing by asking that the priority be raised.
