topic Intel Parallel Studio just for C++? in Intel® Fortran Compiler

Seems the academics (vs. those who actually do something useful) have captured the
IntelParallel Studio. Is there any hope of FORTRAN (95, 2003, 2008)support there?
(Please excuse my attitude, I am a "dinosaur" programmer,as I was recently called by
a co-worker).

That's a fair comment; to some extent Parallel Studio is an educational tool, academic fashion doesn't usually include Fortran, so the demand for those tools was seen as mainly for C++. Similar developments for Fortran are on the way. Being a dinosaur myself, I hope the better side of the current parallel tools isn't taken away.

Intel Parallel Studio is aimed at the "mainstream C++" market. You can expect to see us expand the capabilities of its analysis tools, Parallel Amplifier and Parallel Inspector, to support Fortran as well. Look for developments later this year.

As a former academic, I take exception to this ;-/. We always taught our chemical engineering students Fortran. But perhaps that is because we expect them to beable to do something useful when they graduate.

I too, hope we can get good access to Parallel tools at a reasonableprice. While I am in industry now, as someone who programs to get things done, I do not spend a great deal of my time in the really serious programming that some of you do. Paying substantial sums of money for tools that I not only need to spend a great deal of time to get my head around, but also may only use 5% of the time, is not feasible, esp. in the current economic climate.

Regards,

David
