topic VS2008 doesn't install in Intel® Fortran Compiler

When I run the installer for Fortran 11 the option to install VS2008 is not available. There is an X in front of it. Do I need to uninstall VS2005? I thought they could co-exist. Does VS2008 work with XP?

The bundled VS08 Shell will not install if you already have a supported VS version installed, such as VS2005. Yes, VS2008 works with XP. I see no particular advantage to using the VS08 Shell if you already have VS2005.

OK, thanks. I just thought there might have been some improvements in
the latest VS.

You lose some functionality by using the bundled VS Shell, such as the Resource Editor. VS08 works a bit better on Windows 7 but I would not choose VS08 Shell over a "real" VS05 install.
