I just bought an Asus N53SV laptop with i7-2630qm chip (location australia) with 1gb nvidia GT 540M . out of the box, whilst setting up the desktop, have been getting massive image artifacts in the display when i enable desktop composition in Win 7 home premium. The display functions as normal with desktop composition off.

Also even with desktop composition off, i still get artifacts all over the text when i use IE9 or Firefox 4.0.1 browsers. In opera 10 the screen functions like normal..

I have updated all the chipset/graphics/intel HD graphics drivers to no effect..

Is anyone else getting these errors?? am i looking at a damaged chip or more likely some driver issue? i am thinking the only solution is to disable the HD graphics and just run the video card all the time...
