Windows Update overrides newest driver

I am running an HP Pavilion x360 2-in-1 Laptop 14-ek0xxx with Windows 11 NOT is S mode. I was running the DCH driver version 30.0.101.1314. The Driver and Spport Assistant said there was a newer DCH driver, version 31.0.101.3959, so I downloaded it from the web site that came up when running the assistant and installed it. It worked just fine - for one day.

The next day Windows Update went out on its own and re-downloaded the older driver (30.0.0101.1314) and installed it without checking to see if it was an older driver.

What can be done to have Windows Update not override the newer driver?

This question as been asked so many times.....

You need to use the Microsoft wuShowHide tool (attached) to block the 1314 update.

First, save the tool I have attached. It is a cab file.

Then, install the 3959 driver.

Then, reboot.

Then, immediately run the wuShowHide tool and HIDE the 1314 update.

Doc,

I ran the wuSHowHide tool but it didn't show me the 1314 update to hide. Instead it shows "There are no updates to hide." I did this immediately after rebooting with the 3959 driver. Did I do something wrong?

A few days ago I started from square one with the 3959 update. I've been checking almost daily to see if Windows Update would download the 1314 "update" but so far nothing. I never was able to hide the 1314 "update" but Windows Update hasn't tried to download it either. So I think i'm set.

I do apologize for poting something that has been posted previously. I guess I just didn't look far enough and was too impatient. Forgive me.
