Hello.

I have a problem with drivers for video adapter Intel G41 express chipset (GMA4500).

Computer has 8GB RAM and 2GB limit for one process. Video RAM shared, 128MB max.

Driver 6.14.10.5420 worked with /PAE OS option (1920*1080 px, 32bpp mode).

But if I add string /3GB in boot.ini and reboot, driver reset into 640*480*4bpp resolution, I cannot change it.

I think, this is "dummy" error like in Windows XP x86 + 2GB RAM

"LargeSystemCache"=dword:00000001 call only VGA mode.

How can I get 3GB to one process?

Windows 6+ and x64 OS is too slow and incompatible with my old peripheral hardware.

Nvidia 7600GS videocard with drivers 31/01/2013 v.6.14.13.783 work fine with Windows x86 /3GB boot.ini option.

But this external videocard is too hot for low noise, energy efficient server.

Why latest WHQL Intel drivers run only in VGA mode (640 pix, 16 colors) with 36bit OS and 3GB limit for one 32 bit process?

I understand you are having issues with the Intel graphics driver in Windows* Server 2003.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

What happens is that Intel® G41 Express Chipset supports Windows XP*, Windows Vista* and Windows 7* operating systems so there is a compatibility issue with server operating systems.

What I can recommend is reinstalling any of the operating systems that are compatible with the graphics controller so you can have drivers for it.

Windows XP in PAE mode is very close to Windows 2003 (with marketing restrictions in RAM size, max. 10 TCP/IP, 1*RDP, 1*VPN connections, max. 10 LAN shared resources, etc).

XP driver work stable in 2003 with default "boot.ini".

Other OS are slower and/or incompatible with 16 bit applications, >4GB RAM, other old hardware.

This is drivers bug in Windows XP. These OS supported by Microsoft to 2019 year.

May be I need similar registry tweak?

There is no support for XP or Server 2003, unless you are paying big money to Microsoft for such support:

Support for XP ended in April 2014.

The situation you are in is what happens when one waits too long to convert. If you have 16-bit applications, get them recompiled, or upgraded, or drop them in favour of applications that are current. Also, you can run an XP virtual machine on a current OS and platform if you must.

You have to look at the fact that none of what you have and what you want to do is supported.

You have squeezed as much as you can out of XP and server 2003. Want new and modern video capabilities? Time to upgrade!

Yes, to old Nvidia or all AMD video card.

Nvidia works in 36bit MS OS only with drivers 332.21-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-32bit-international-whql and older.

Problem may be in file nvlddmkm.sys, in which there is now no call "halTranslateBusAddress".

Errors begin from Microsoft wrong tutorial:

P.S. registry tweak not help in this case with Intel drivers.

You are not making any sense. XP supported has ended April 2014. There may be some support of Embedded and Point-of-sales systems, but not for XP. Show me the fine print on a Microsoft page, and we can discuss it. If you really want a discussion, go to the Microsoft community and tell them XP is still supported - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum Microsoft Community However, you will discover there is no XP forum, and no Server 2003 forum. Ask anyway, and report back the results.

The point here is that you are not supported - period. Not from Microsoft, not from Intel.

You need to upgrade your hardware, OS, and applications, and then you will not have this problem. Staying on a 15-year old OS and hardware that is more than nine years old, all with no support, is not going to help you.

Yes, time to upgrade.

On desktop 32bit OS only 2,39GB RAM from 4GB available in Windows 7.

Must be 3.88GB!!

G41 chipset not very obsolete, purchase available today.

I understand the fact that you need to use a server operating system, but please bear in mind that the Intel G41 Chipset is a desktop chipset. We cannot guarantee desktop chipsets will be fully compatible with server operating systems. If you need to use a server operating system the best option would be using a server motherboard so you can have drivers for it.
