Intel Graphics update error

In Settings > Windows Update > Downloadable Updates, the following programs do not update successfully.

Whenever I try, it gets stuck on install for around 15 seconds, then it says what's on the screenshot.

Could someone help? I've tried MS support and they just told me to reinstall Windows (their magical solution to everything lol)

Intel Corporation - Display - 26.20.100.7323
Installation Error - 0x80070103

Note that the version 26.20.100.7323 WAS shown in Device Manager > Display Adapters > Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 > Properties > Drivers, then I installed 31.0.101.2114 in the hope of resolving this, and it failed

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

The said driver "26.20.100.7323" is not available on our Download Center. We would recommend you check if this driver is available on your system manufacturer's website to confirm if this driver is part of their listings.

However, since you tried installing our latest drivers and this did not solve the issue, we would recommend you install the latest driver from your system OEM and install the latest graphics driver version over the version Windows* update installed. Make sure you do not uninstall the version Windows* Update previously installed.

In case the workaround above does not work, you can manually install the graphics driver using the following steps:

Download the appropriate driver for your system from the appropriate link below:
- Integrated graphics with the 6th generation to 10th generation Intel® Processors

Click the Download button to download the .exe file.

Run the downloaded .exe.
During the installation process, when you reach the Install stage, click the Customize button.
Make sure not to enable the Execute a clean installation check box.
After finishing the driver installation, click the Optional reboot button.

Hello,

Thanks for helping me resolve this!

The issue I have with this is just Windows Update wanting to update the driver for no reason. I have actually factory reset my PC to clear up space and hopefully fix this problem, it still didn't help. Is there any way that I could cancel the update? Thanks

Hello pete543,

In case the issue persists, we recommend you temporarily disable Windows Updates:

Open Settings.
Click Update & Security.
Click Windows Update.
Click the Advanced options button.
Under the Pause updates section, use the drop-down menu to select how long to disable updates.

However, it is important to mention that Windows* automatic updates may contain important security updates or important stability improvements. Disabling automatic updates will not install these updates.

Also, since this is Windows Update requesting you to update the driver, you should keep in touch with Microsoft support for further recommendations. Remember that this is an OS feature and they have a much better understanding of how it works and can provide more efficient troubleshooting for this problem
