ARC750 compatibility with DXO DeepPrime XD

Just installed my new ARC750 and have updated the drivers to 31.0.101.4369 and was wondering if it is a known problem or are there are any other users having issues with DXO photolab 6 elite.

When using the DXO noise reducing technology DeepPrime XD to process RAW files, the review and output both generate a small pixelated area rather than an image when using the Intel GPU to process the image. If the GPU function is turned off and the image is rendered using CPU only then there are no issues other than processing takes 20x longer.

As this functionality previously worked using a sapphire RX480 nitro would this be being caused by an Intel driver issue?

System: Win11 Pro, AMD 5700x, 32GB ram, ARC750

Hello GWR52,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

To better assist you on this matter, we would like to request the following information:

You mentioned having tried a Sapphire RX480 nitro. Therefore, we would like to know if you tried this card on this system. Or is the Intel® Arc™ A750 the original graphics adapter on your system?

This issue is only present when using the noise-reducing technology DXO DeepPrime XD, correct?

Is Smart Acess Memory enabled on your motherboard BIOS?

Can you share a screenshot of the problem you described?

Also, we would like to ask for more system information. Please, create a system report using the Intel®️ System Support Utility (Intel®️ SSU)

Download the Intel SSU

Open the application and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel®️ SSU will take you to the "Summary View."

Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."

To save your scan: click "Next"; then "Save."

Attach the saved file to your next response.

Best regards,

Jean O.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Yeah, this doesn't work with the A770 either. I've talked to DxO about this and they think it is a driver problem with the Intel. Presumably they are talking to Intel about it but I don't know that for sure. They haven't closed my ticket so I assume they are still on it.

Edit: Although I will note that Intel Arc Control thinks I'm on 4314 and Support and Driver assist thinks that I'm on 4382. So god only knows what I have installed.

Once you run the tool, you should install our latest BETA driver, 31.0.101.4382. Files from earlier installations of drivers can linger on a system which can cause driver updates to not work as expected.

Best regards,

Jean O

Intel Customer Support Technician

As requested I have outlined the Process steps shown in the attached video.

===========================================================

Open DXO Photolab 6 Elite (PL6)

Set DXO preferences for Performance to use either Auto or Intel®Arc™ A750 Graphics

Choose any RAW image from the filmstrip

Open DXO Denoising Technologies menu

Use the target to select preview area of image shows results prior to full image processing

4 denoise options: High Quality / PRIME / DeepPRIME /

Note: The results give increasing noise reduction levels and are shown in preview window

You may/will observe that the first 3 options will show increased levels of noise reduction

However DeepPRIME XD will always show when using the GPU either a black preview or pixellated colour bands depending on the preview area chosen.

Having chosen the denoise required I would select the Export to Lightroom option

Then chose the options from the menu I would choose DNG and then select Export button.

DXO will then process the full image, with progress shown by the spinning indicator on the filmstrip.

If successful (10-15secs) there will be a Green Tick and the image will be exported to Lightroom Classic(LRC).

If LRC is not running this will cause LRC to open and then import and display the image. Note the last image the user viewed will initially display but will be replaced by the imported image.

Exports of all 4 denoise options will result in a full size image which will match the characteristics of the preview.

If you change the PL6 preferences / Performance option to “Use CPU Only” then DeepPRIME XD will preview and process the image correctly albeit the process time may now exceed 3 minutes per image as against 15secs utilising the GPU as as such not a viable option for general use.

Note: My previous Sapphire RX480 Nitro GPU did not exhibit this issue with DeepPRIME XD.

===============================================================================================

Regards

George

I have the same problem with DXOPhotolab6 and the Intel ARC 770 16 GB GPU, running a brand new PC with the Intel i7-1270K. The only way to export a file from DXO to Affinity Photo for further processing I can only use the CPU to do all the work, which not only stresses the heck out of the CPU but the process takes three minutes plus, a process that should not take longer than forty to sixty seconds when both the GPU and CPU are utilized by the DXO software. Once in Affinity Photo the software is set to use the ARC GPU which it does with no issues. The issue seems to be with DXOPhotolab6 and the ARC drivers, when I set the preferences to auto "which uses both the CPU and GPU the export comes out a black box, all the data seems to be missing, same if I only choose the GPU in the DXOPhotolab6 preferences, when I choose only the CPU to do all the lifting, the export comes out just fine, but it takes forever and it is stressing the heck out of the CPU.

This is unacceptable for a card that should be able to eat tasks like this for breakfast with no sweat. It's like being handed a race horse that was tranquilized. This horse should have never left the stable. I don't play video games, my PC is specifically used for photo and video editing and your other everyday tasks, browsing the web, email and the sort.

On another note, the UHD770 GPU build into the i7-1270K has the same issue as the ARC GPU. So this seems to be an Intel GPU "across the board" driver issue. I also have a laptop with an Nvidia GPU and Intel CPU and all my programs work as they should, including DXOPhotolab6.

This is becoming extremely frustrating to say the least. This issue needs to be fixed ASAP.

Update on my last post. I posted this in the DXO support page. Hope this helps out both driver teams at Intel and DXO.

As you can see the CPU is running at full throttle all 12 cores being utilized to their max and are burning up, reason is the Intel GPU is not being utilized as it should be, matter of fact it's not being utilized at all, it might as well not be installed on the motherboard. The ram 64 GB DDR5 4800mhz is also running hot.

First screenshot with PC in normal mode. Second screenshot with DXO processing the RAW file using only the CPU "the GPU can not be used". Third screenshot is the Performance/Preferences window, it says that unsupported GPU's will automatically be disabled "looks like both the Intel ARC 770 and the UHD 770 are not supported, which makes no sense", the enable OpenCL box is grayed out. Fourth screenshot is the time it takes for the RAW file to be processed, some take longer than others depending on the data in the file, as you can see it took six minutes for the file to be uploaded to AF2 as a TIFF, which should take between 40-60 seconds max if the GPU was able to be utilized. Once in Affinity Photo2 "fifth screenshot" the Intel ARC 770 or the UHD 770 both work as they should.
The last screenshot is what the file looks like when trying to use the GPU in DXOPhotolab6 after it is exported to AF2. As you can see it's just a black box, all the data missing, since DXOPhotolab6 is not recognizing the Intel GPU/GPUs.
Hope this helps out, and gets resolved as soon as possible. I will also furnish all this information to Intel in their Intel forums support page.

I don't care how wonderful the specs are regarding the hardware, regardless of industry, if the software is dodgy, or lacking, it will literally destroy your product. And with that your reputation, and with that, that product line. Especially if the hardware has been on the market for a year plus, give or take. Intel, are you listening.

CPU running at idleCPU running like a banshee trying to process the fileDXO Performance panel shows the the Intel GPUs are not supported, which makes no senseThe time it took for the TIFF file to be exported to AFP2, which should take less than one minute if the GPU was utilized, which also would cause less strain on the CPUAFP2 Performance panel shows that both the Intel GPUs work and are supported<span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="This is what it looks like trying to export from DXO to Affinity Photo 2 using the GPU, all the data is missing.

Still have issues. I posted this in the DXOPhotolab support email I had opened up with them.

This is an update from my previous posts. Intel came out with a new driver 31.0.101.4577 released on 07/24/23. I installed it, and now in the DXOPhotolab6 Preferences/Performance I can check the Enable OpenCL box and choose the Intel Arc A770 GPU under Deep Prime Acceleration. DXO noise reduction works only up to Deep Prime, once I choose Deep Prime XD "the preview box goes black " which is the latest version that came out with DXOPhotolab6, and the file export comes out corrupt/black.

I am adding screen captures of the issue I mentioned in my previous post. As you can see in the last screenshot the preview box goes black when choosing DXOPimeXD. And the export comes out the same, just a black box.
With DXO Deep Prime "image 5" the export comes out fine, with DXO Depp Prime XD the image "image 6" export comes out black, same black image as in the DXOPhotolab6 preview window when selecting DXO Deep Prime XD.

Update on my previous posts, this issue with DXO Prime XD "the other three DXO Prime noise reduction settings from high quality, prime and deep prime work just fine with the ARC A770 GPU" issue seems to be only happening with the Intel ARC A770 16 GB GPU when choosing DXO Deep Prime XD, when choosing Intel UHD 700, which is integrated into the CPU all four DXO Prime noise choices work just fine, including DXO Prime XD, but when processing a file in DXO with DXO Prime XD using the UHD 700 GPU the process is painfully slow, it takes between 2 and 3 minutes, most of the time closer to 3 minutes to export a file. Is it possible to give me an estimate in when this issue will be fixed. Thank you.

I also posted the above post in my open DXO support issue ticket. But this issue seems to be an Intel driver bug. I have also posted numerous other comments in this thread with no response from anyone from Intel.
