Two little questions

So hello. I have two little questions for you that has bothered me all the time.

1) Is it possible for intel to develop a driver (if they really want to) that makes Intel HD 3000 support OpenGL 4.0 ?

2)And is it possible to make a driver for Intel HD 3000 that makes it support OpenCL (the GPU part) ?

And if not, what is the reason ?

Hello RobiZ,

Please note that the Intel® controllers that support at this point the OpenGL 4.0 and OpenCL 1.1 are the Intel® HD Graphics 4000 and the Intel® HD Graphics 2500.

I am afraid that 3rd generation processors are the only ones that support this features due to the internal design. This is the reason the Intel® HD 3000 supports OpenGL 3.1 only.

Thanks for your reply. So as I understood, the OpenGL 4.0 support as well as OpenCL GPU part is impossible for 2nd generation cards even if the developers really wanted to ?

What about full Support up to OpenGL 3.3, is that possible (right now in EVEREST it shows 70% up from OpenGL 3.1 (3.2 and 3.3)(for OpenGL 4.0 it shows 15% support) ?

Hello RobiZ,

Please note that the design of the 3rd generation processors makes them support the OpenGL 4.1 and OpenCL 1.1.

I am afraid the design of the internal components limits the support of these features in the Graphics Controller.
