Acer e5 576g (intel UHD graphics 620 + MX150) with External Monitor 180hz but stuck at 120hz

Hi so as the subject says,
I have a
laptop: Acer e5 576g 50en i5-8th gen with Intel UHD graphics 620 and MX150 GPU
External Monitor: Acer Nitro VG240Y M3 (48-180hz)
connected via HDMI 2.0

My problem is I can't get past 120hz using the HDMI of the laptop (i can't use Type-C cos its Gen 1)
I have tried the same monitor and HDMI cable to another laptop and it get the max 180hz of the monitorthis my laptop max display.

And this is the other laptop display with intel

I really need some help from intel.
And another thing. do you think using a "active HDMI to DP cable" will work? my Monitor has DP port. thank you

It appears that your Acer E5 576g 50en laptop may not support HDMI 2.0's full bandwidth capabilities, which could be why you're unable to exceed 120Hz on your external monitor. While HDMI 2.0 technically supports higher refresh rates, the actual output can be limited by the laptop's hardware or drivers.

Using an "active HDMI to DP cable" might be a solution, as it could potentially allow you to utilize the DisplayPort on your monitor, which often supports higher refresh rates than HDMI. However, compatibility can vary, and it's not guaranteed to resolve the issue. It's worth noting that the Acer Nitro VG240Y M3 monitor supports HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2, and while DisplayPort 1.2 does support higher refresh rates, the laptop's output capability is still a determining factor.
