The built-in audio CODEC is the Realtek ALC298. There seem to be other users with this Samsung device who are also facing problems with it.

Windows Update or Samsung Update should actually simply install the driver automatically. I cannot rule out that this your Samsung device has a problem ex factory. Do you still have a warranty claim? To be honest, I would make that claim before we try to force a driver onto the device.

However, you can try the generic driver installation that Realtek offers, but if the ALC298 is not recognized by DirectX, which is the case according to the report, then installing the driver probably won't help.

For a couple months I've had ongoing audio issues, where sometimes the computer just doesn't recognize it's own built in speakers, and that is the case as I write this.

I know it's a driver issue, and I've tried fixing it on my own and nothing is helping:

- Scanning drivers from CCleaner and DriverEasy, and they almost always find an audio-related driver to update, but once I reboot I get prompted for the exact same audio driver again

- Daily checks for Windows Updates

- Daily manual checks for updates from the Intel Driver Support assist app

Notes:

- I'm on Windows 11 release preview 24H2 (Samsungs built in native 'Samsung Update' app does provide drivers, but only up to 23H2)

- As I write this the Intel High Definition audio driver is NOT seen under sound/video/game where it normally is

- In device manager 'Other Devices' the 'Intel High Definition DSP' has a yellow triangle... if I click to update manually it needs me to choose "Select your device's type from the list below - Common Hardware types" and there's 4 different things that sound audio related, and I don't know which to choose, so I'm leaving this alone for now

- Currently I can output sound via bluetooth headphones, which is better than nothing... but when the built in speakers don't work that means my mic doesn't work either and I need that

The built-in speakers and microphone of the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 are analog audio technology and must be connected to the processor via a third-party audio CODEC. e.g. Realtek ALC3287 or similar.

I have looked at Samsung support and unfortunately it is useless.

Please run the Intel System Support Utility for Windows and perform a scan for all options. Attach the output file here.

Then hopefully we can see more.

Unfortunately no, we're long passed the Samsung warranty 😒

I just tried going to that link and I can't get it to download, I tried from both Chrome and Firefox. Do you know another reputable source to get it from?

Also, are you able to share any of the sources you mentioned that makes this a known/ongoing problem?
