Hello, I am using the ASUS ZenBook Pro for years without problems, using also external monitor via HDMI cable. Now I am trying to connect second external monitor with HDMI/RGB/DVI input via USB-C and I also bought a USBC to HDMI cable that says it is able to support up to 4k 60hz. However, when I connected using the USBC, the monitor is detected by WIN10 correctly as 2nd external monitor but monitor is mostly black with occasionally flickering with extended Windows background on it. Restarting Windows many times, detecting monitor, on/off monitor, update all Asus drivers... The same HDMI cable also work fine via nearby HDMI port to the 1st external monitor,

I tried using the USBC to HDMI cable on my mac which has a thunderbolt as it works and display works fine, so I don't think it is the cable's fault. Does the ASUS ZenBook Pro not support external display via USB C or something?

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

Doc (not an Intel employee or contractor)
[Fear and the desire for control are primary motivators for shadow dwellers. ]

Thanks AllHill for advice 😊

As suggested I scan my Asus and attached result bellow to this post.

I must additional say that Intel® Driver & Support Assistant web utility (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html ) suggested to install newer Intel® Graphics Driver Version: x.x.x.5174. I installed it, but result was the same (or maybe worse because monitor was mostly remain dark with little flickering - my personal filling ...). So I returned back to the last supported driver suggested for ASUS Zenbook Pro UX501VW on Asus page https://www.asus.com/supportonly/ux501vw/helpdesk_download/ : Intel Graphics Driver Version V20.19.15.4474 .

This is a Skylake platform. According to ASUS, this device offers HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort over USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 3). Please use the driver provided by ASUS.

Please provide the manufacturer and model name of the two monitors you want to use.

Do you have a link to the USB-C > HDMI cable?

Thanx MUC

As you can see from scan.txt attached in my second post, I returned back to last recommended driver from ASUS:

Display Adapter(s): Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 20.19.15.4474

Both monitors are exactly the same 10+ years old Samsung DVI-I/VGA 2048x1152 res, both working excellent for years with HDMI>DVI-I adapters.

USB-C > HDMI cable is from my nearby computer store: 4 in 1 USB-C VGA/HDMI Adapter LQ48001 (cannot find on manufacturer site https://www.linqconnects.com/ ), but an example link: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Elements-LINQ-Adapter-USB-C-Multiport/dp/B088FM947S .

Yesterday (thanks to my office colegue) tested this configuration on brand new ASUS ProArt H7606WI and after connection worked in 1 second excellent without any problems...

So, problem must be in my old Asus ?!

Unfortunately, there is apparently some kind of interoperability issue with this combination of (old) devices that is unlikely to be fixed in software. Each of the devices is probably fine on its own. You can only try other adapters, e.g. this cable.
