So I dug into the INF for this thing. I looked at versions 3131, 3165 and beta version 3214. This is what I found (only listing the 4000 series):

3131 has support for 4000 and 4600

3165 has support for 4000 and 4600

3214 has support for 4000, 4400 and 4600.

So as far as I can tell this is exactly why this driver is not loading. There is no 4400 support in the two production drivers at all. I would have to say this is exactly why it says my 4400 does not meet the requirements for the driver and is exactly why the beta driver installs (in my case, at least tries).

Production INF:

DiskId = "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows"

Intel               = "Intel Corporation"

iIVBGD0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGM0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGD0SRV       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGD0GT1        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGM0GT1          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGD0SRVGT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

; HSW Classic

iHSWGT2D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

iHSWGT2M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

Beta INF:

DiskId = "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows"

Intel                = "Intel Corporation"

iIVBGD0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGM0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGD0GT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGM0GT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

; HSW Classic

iHSWGT1D       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iHSWGT1M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iHSWGT15D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400"

iHSWGT2D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

iHSWGT2M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

That pretty much sums up that. Intel support tried to tell me that I had bad hardware and to replace it. I then told them that I bought 3 sets of this hardware and they all do the same thing. They said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. That was last Friday.

I have put together the following configuration/hardware into a brand new system

- Intel i3-4130 CPU (Only just released in Australia)

- ASRock B85M-ITX Motherboard

- Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (I am definitely using the 64-bit version as verified in the 'Computer properties' screen), all updates are installed.

- No add-on graphics card is installed, the display output works fine, however searching for the best driver results in only the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"

- Single stick of 4GB RAM

My intention is to use the on-chip HD 4400 graphics capabilities of the CPU, however I am unable to install the driver provided with the motherboard CD or the official driver provided by Intel.

When I try the Win64_15319.exe automated install driver I get the message "This operating system is not supported" OR "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software" with the Intel driver provided with the motherboard.

So I have also downloaded the Win64_15319.zip, extracted, then followed the manual procedure of selecting the : igdhc64.inf file to install the display driver (as per the readme). The list of available graphics chipsets are:

Intel HD Graphics

Intel HD Graphics 4000

Intel HD Graphics 4600

plus others

But no option is presented for the Intel HD Graphics 4400 that is included with the i3-4130? Selecting the "Intel HD Graphics" or "Intel HD Graphics 4600" options results in the error - "The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows" as well as warning about incompatibility first.

I have allocated the maximum amount of memory to the graphics within the motherboard BIOS (1GB) and also tried the AUTO setting just in case that had some bearing.

Is the current driver missing support for the HD 4400 or possibly broken, or am doing something wrong? Any ideas are welcome! This CPU has only just been released, so there isn't any previous discussions I can find.. Should I try reinstalling from scratch?

In case anyone else has the same issue. The file you want is - Win64_1533b.zip

Your just not going to find it by browsing from the Intel support page.

Try this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22935 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22935

It's the Windows 8.1 Beta driver which does have support for the HD 4400 graphics and seems to work on Win 7 also.

Surprised no one from Intel could be bothered to respond.. considering the i3-4130 is a new product just released.

On a positive note, my new system boots into Windows surprisingly fast and idles at around 33W total power consumption, pretty stoked.

Well, it was worth a shot. For me I was trying to install Win8 ENT x64 and got the same message you got. However, when I tried to install this driver the screen went blank and never came back. Any method to try to repair or boot in safemode has failed. This OS installation is trashed.

Looks like I'm stuck with the MS Default Graphics Driver until Intel gets their crap together.

Thanks for the information though. I greatly appreciate it!

EDIT:

I guess I should also note:

Intel Board: DH87RL

CPU: i3-4130

8GB of DDR3-1600

As I mentioned in my own thread, I already tried that version and it does not work. That's why I started my own thread. For this guy a beta driver worked fine for him.

If you want both threads to be the same then:

I built a new system comprising of:

Intel Board: DH87RL  (BIOS v0320)

CPU: i3-4130

8GB of DDR3-1600

When installing the driver from the CD I get the following message:

"This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software"

The same goes for driver versions - 9.18.10.3131 and 9.18.10.3165. I'm dealing with x64.

I found and was able to install v9.18.10.3214 (BETA) however the second the driver is loaded the screen flickers, goes blank then never comes back. Any method to try to repair or boot in safemode fails. The OS installation at this point is trashed. No big deal as it's a new install. I've reloaded many times trying different things (installer versus device manager and so forth).

What can I do to get the video driver installed? I'd appreciate any help!

JEmlay,

At this point, have you tried clearing the CMOS on the motherboard before installing the driver? Have you tried installing the ME driver? You can get at:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22596&lang=eng&OSVersion=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09&DownloadType=Drivers

It will be helpful if you can post your dxdiag report here.

Yes, support had me do that. Also, all other Intel software/drivers have been installed including the ME stuff.

I also installed Win8 Pro x86, Win8 Pro x64 and had the same problem. I also installed Win7 Pro x86/x64 and had the same problem the above guy had. I was also able to install the beta drivers like him and they installed just fine. Pretty odd seeing as how those beta drivers say they are for Win8/8.1 yet only work for Win7 and do not work for Win8 at all.

Here's the DxDiag report:

------------------

System Information

------------------

Time of this report: 9/11/2013, 12:31:35

Intel               = "Intel Corporation"

iIVBGD0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGM0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGD0SRV       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGD0GT1        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGM0GT1          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGD0SRVGT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

; HSW Classic

iHSWGT2D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

iHSWGT2M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

Beta INF:

DiskId = "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows"

Intel                = "Intel Corporation"

iIVBGD0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGM0          = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

iIVBGD0GT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iIVBGM0GT1       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

; HSW Classic

iHSWGT1D       = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iHSWGT1M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

iHSWGT15D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400"

iHSWGT2D        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

iHSWGT2M        = "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"

That pretty much sums up that. Intel support tried to tell me that I had bad hardware and to replace it. I then told them that I bought 3 sets of this hardware and they all do the same thing. They said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. That was last Friday.

Thank you Kevin. Hopefully it's not like the beta driver v3214 because that driver blows up my Win8 x64 install. I also tried the x86 version of that beta driver on Win8 x86 and it also blew up. As I mentioned above once you ok the driver and it loads the screen goes black and that's the end of that.

Thanks, just setting up the same board with the same problem. The driver you linked to solved it and appears to work fine. Note that the old driver is still listed on the Intel Download Center page for the DH87RL board and the ME does not find this driver, only a search for HD 4400 find the correct graphics driver.

That might take them a while to clean up because it really has nothing to do with the Mainboard. The 4400 HD GPU is on the CPU. So they'll have to clean up all the mainboard models that take those CPUs.
