After switching from a 520W PSU to a 850W PCI-E 5 and ATX 3.0 complient one. the B580's 94-102W draw hasn't changed. through all my digging and attempts to find the issue nothing was wrong. the GPU for whatever reasson wouldn't go past 96% utilization or 102W. this is abnormal and from my understanding far from my Sparkle B580's Titan OC's capabilities. I will attach a log containing GPU information using GPU-Z sensor log while sitting still in Pacific Drive. the first few lines will have a 195MHz+ offset alongside a 11% higher voltage limit and then the stock values. I would like to be informed as to:

-why is the GPU drawing way less wattage then it is capable of?

-Is there a known fix for this or anything of the sort?

If there is any way I can help research the problem or if there is any other imformation needed I will hapilly provide it.

1. Since the very start

2. I already mentioned it's a Sparkle B580 Titan OC

3. In Pacific drive it's quite crippled at times especially in shadow heavy areas while on most others it leaves perfomance left on the table.

4. I have went into Bios to make sure it's PCIE 4.0, made sure the powerplan was set to max, tweaked CPU settings, tweaked GPU OC settings, uninstalled the drivers with DDU then with Intel's "clean install" after, changed the PSU from 520W to a new 850W, tested how it behaves in the following games: Satisfactory, Cyberpunk 2077, Helldivers 2, Pacific drive, DOOM 2016, Titanfall 2, Warthunder and Palword. the results varied case by case but the general was that it wouldn't go past 102-105W (chip) except in Cyberpunk reaching at random 130W (chip) stock unless I higtened the voltage limit.

- as I did more reasearch it appears that it might be a driver issue, which would explain the sporatic behavior but I still wanted to check with official sources for a clear, concise and well documented explination for this and if increasing the voltage limit is the only real way to negate this behaviour or if there's something else that can be done.

thank you for responding

I already have tried only using DDU without the Intel "clean install" as well and the results were the same no matter which way I did it. It's not a me problem as: 1 it's a commonly reported issue in many different setups etc and 2 I went above and beyond to try to isolate the issue which ended up right back to the general consensus. please actually read what I am asking/saying.
Thank you

Since installing the latest driver is still the same, let me request the SSU logs of your system for me to further check this. Kindly refer to the link below on how to generate the SSU.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057926/memory-and-storage.html

And also, if you can share some screenshots or videos, that will also help me a lot.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hi @ThunderBolt,

Thank you for your patience. The power consumption of our GPU follows the voltage-frequency curve (VF Curve) set in the Intel Graphics Software which directly correlates to two key performance metrics:

Voltage: Determines power consumption levels

Frequency: Controls GPU performance output

Your GPU dynamically adjusts its operating point along this V-F curve based on real-time application demands while maintaining operation within established safety parameters. When applications require enhanced performance, the GPU automatically scales to higher curve points, resulting in increased graphics clock speeds and corresponding power consumption.

What I can recommend is the following:

1. Application Settings Adjustments like the following settings, please consider that Higher settings will result in increased graphics clock speeds and power consumption:

Increase game resolution settings

Enhance graphics quality options

2. Adjust the Power Limit Configuration in Intel Graphics Software. This modification allows for extended performance headroom when needed

It is also advisable to also install the latest graphics driver: 32.0.101.8135 (Latest)

These adjustments will enable you to maximize your GPU's performance capabilities while maintaining optimal system stability.

Should you require additional assistance with these configurations, please don't hesitate to contact our technical support team.

Regards,

Ernesto C.

Intel Customer Support Engineer

Yes I am fully aware that if I make it so the GPU is utilized less it'll draw less, but I didn't do that so it's a dud point. Secondly I am running the newest drivers as I update them frequently. All and all this was useless and since ya can't give concrete answers as to why the GPU underdraws severely unless overclocked, or give any solutions etc, I can with full confidence say this was a waste of everyone's time and can close the ticket. Thank you, have a nice day sir.

This is the exact same issue I am having;

My logs show:

GPU Load = 100 %

Clock = 3100 MHz+ (excellent)

Power Draw = ~160 W cap (too low)
That cap is the only reason my 3DMark Time Spy score is ~6500 instead of ~9000+.

I have attempted to use ChatGPT to investigate and when it analysed the 3DMark Timespy log along with the GPU-Z sensor log it concluded:

⚠️ Root cause confirmed

Your VBIOS (23.0.1051) is the early Sparkle release that restricts board power to ≈160–170 W.
Sparkle issued an internal VBIOS 23.0.1056 and newer in mid-2025 that raises the Arc B580 Titan OC to ≈210 W TDP, restoring full performance (~9 000–9 500 Time Spy GPU score).

The driver itself is fine—the cap lives in the firmware’s power table.

What to do next

Check for Sparkle firmware update

Visit Sparkle GPU support page
→ choose your Arc B580 Titan OC 12 GB.

Look for a download labelled “VBIOS update (Arc B580 Titan OC – Power Table Update)” or similar.

If you find version 23.0.1055 / 1056 or later, install it using Sparkle’s update tool.

Then install the latest Intel BETA driver

Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics Driver (BETA)

Choose Clean Installation in the setup.

Reboot → open Intel Graphics Software

Confirm Power Limit ≈ 200 W (or board power readings ~200 W in GPU-Z sensors).

Re-run 3DMark Time Spy → expected GPU score ≈ 9 000 – 9 500.

🧭 If Sparkle doesn’t list the file yet

You can also contact Sparkle support directly (support@sparkle.com.tw
) with your Device ID 8086 E20B 172F 4215 and current BIOS 23.0.1051 — they’ll provide the correct .exe VBIOS package for your card revision.

Once you’ve flashed the newer BIOS and updated the driver, the GPU will pull full board power and your benchmark numbers should jump by roughly +35 – 40 %.+

---------------------------

However no matter where I look I can not find any vBIOS information from Sparkle.

Using the ARC-Firmware-Tool community tool I can only find the same 23.0.1051 version that ChatGPT says has the power tables set too low. I have opened a ticket with Intel support but this is ridiculous that the latest driver version does not automatically come with the latest vBIOS from all vendors and that the Vendors create such poor vBIOS that restrict the card being able to perform.

Please help sort this out ASAP.
