Iris Xe Graphics driver version

I recently installed the latest driver update. After downloading and installing the update, I restarted my computer as prompted. However, after the system rebooted, I noticed that the screen occasionally flickers (blinks once) during normal use.

When I restart the computer again, the system appears to revert back to an older driver version from 2023. I checked the driver version using both the Intel Graphics Command Center and the official Intel website tool, and they both report that the latest version is installed — even though it seems the system is still using the older driver.

Could you please help me resolve this issue? I’d like to make sure the latest driver is properly installed and stable without reverting or causing display flickers.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, Nanashi1031.

Thank you for posting in our Community. From what you've described, it seems the system may be reverting the graphics driver either due to a compatibility issue, a Windows Update override, or improper driver installation persistence.

To proceed effectively, could you please provide the following information:

Was the driver installed via Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA), manually via the Intel website, or through Windows Update?

Are you using an OEM or Intel graphics driver? Some OEMs require customized drivers, installing a generic Intel DCH driver may trigger automatic rollback.

Do You Have Windows Device Installation Settings Enabled? This setting can allow Windows to automatically replace drivers.

Was the older 2023 driver provided by your system OEM?

Additionally, I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the graphics models, precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable me to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue. For your privacy and security, I have already sent you an email to collect the SSU reports. Once I receive the logs, I can investigate further and provide better assistance.

If you've already taken any steps to resolve this issue before reaching out, please share those details with me so I can avoid repeating any unnecessary actions.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Von M.

Intel Customer Support Technician

About my driver problem:

1. I was using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA) to download the driver.

2. Intel app said that the driver was up to date because it's still on my computer. I update back to the newest by using device manager > display adapter > update driver > browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick a drivers available on my computer.
3. I don't know why it's not working because the second time i using it was ok.

Thanks for your help!

Hello, Nanashi1031.

It sounds like there may have been a version conflict or an issue with how the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA) recognized the installed driver. Sometimes, when a driver remains cached locally, IDSA may incorrectly report it as up to date even if it's not actively applied. The manual method you used via Device Manager is a valid approach, and it's good to hear it worked the second time. That could indicate the driver wasn’t fully applied the first time, or there was a temporary system issue that cleared up after the reboot or reapplication.

I have already sent you an email to collect the SSU reports and the troubleshooting steps you have already done so I can avoid repeating any unnecessary actions.
