I own two NUC 14 Pros with such a GPU.

Please read this thread first to understand why I am now here and the question I am about to post after changing OS from Arch to Ubuntu 24 and installing the packages from ppa:kobuk-team/intel-graphics, including the kernel (6.14.0-1008-intel).

Despite the NUCs being stable now (no more weird crashes), I still have, even with the 6.14.0-1008-intel kernel, the sudden disappearance (after a while) of the GPU load when monitoring it, for instance, with the intel_gpu_top command (see attached picture).

This anomaly is occurring with ANY Linux kernel I've tried so far.

Are there any known or still pending issues with the support of the 7d55 GPU?

But the main question I have about the 7d55 GPU is the following one:

Do the kernel (I assume) patches introduced by the Kobuk team make it to the mainline kernel?

Thank you!

Hi Matteo_Guglielmi.

Thank you so much for reaching out and for sharing the detailed information about your setup. I genuinely appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into testing different kernels and documenting your findings. I understand your concerns regarding the GPU behavior on your Intel® NUC 14 Pro systems, specifically the 7d55 GPU load behavior under Linux and the integration of Kobuk patches into the mainline kernel.

However, I’d like to gently clarify that, as of January 16, 2024, technical and warranty support for Intel® NUC products (NUC 7 through NUC 13) has officially transitioned to ASUS. They are now responsible for providing ongoing software, firmware, BIOS, and kernel-level support for these systems. To ensure you receive the most up-to-date and accurate technical guidance regarding GPU kernel integration and patch management, I recommend contacting ASUS Support directly using the link below:

Asus NUC Support Page

You can also review the Intel announcement for more details about this transition here: Interl NUC support Transition to ASUS

While this may not have been the answer you were hoping for, connecting with ASUS’ dedicated NUC support team will ensure your issue is properly investigated and that you receive expert assistance specific to your model.

In light of this transition, I will be closing this thread for now. Please know that we truly value your understanding and cooperation throughout this process.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

ASUS declined any support because they don't support Linux.

I was asked to install Windows and reproduce the issue there.
