I'm getting the attached error message from Norton Antivirus when try to update the graphics driver recommended by Intel Driver & Support Assistant. I first had to disable Adlice Antivirus that first halted it stating malicious code or something.

Meanwhile Norton Driver Updater doesn't recognize this version and installs an older one released in June 2025.

Hi @OldMechanic,

Thank you for posting here in community. It was confirmed graphics driver, 32.0.101.8136, which successfully addresses a previously reported issue affecting system performance and stability.

As always, it is recommended to download drivers directly from Intel’s official website or through trusted system update utilities to ensure authenticity and compatibility.

The generic Intel driver from Intel Driver Support Assistant provides users with the latest and greatest feature enhancements and bug fixes that computer manufacturers (OEMs) might not have customized yet. OEM drivers are handpicked and include customized features and solutions to platform-specific needs. Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite your handpicked OEM graphics driver. Users can check for matching OEM driver versions at OEM websites.

Best regards,

Randy T.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi @OldMechanic,

For clarification, the version I mentioned previously that resolved the antivirus notification issue is specifically for Intel Arc graphics cards. The reason for the Exit Code 8 error is that the driver you attempted to install is not compatible with your system, which is why I suggested downloading the driver from your laptop manufacturer.

Regarding Norton falsely detecting the driver as a threat, we are currently investigating this issue and will provide an update once the investigation is complete.

Additionally, I reviewed your previous case and based on the SSU log you submitted, the correct Intel driver version you may want to try, if you prefer using our driver, is 32.0.101.7080 try manually installing this version, which is compatible with your processor’s integrated graphics.

Thank you for your patience while we work on resolving this matter

Best regards,

Randy T.

Intel Customer Support Technician
