Thank you!

1. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) , remote streaming, and video transcoding.

2. Windows Server 2025 (with Admin Center installed)

3. Current platforms all still run on Windows, while migrating to Linux is totally a big cost.

My test on Linux SR-IOV confirms the latest Xe driver has the host feature to define VFs via command lines, and Windows Guest drivers (the common Arc Pro driver) also work well with the VFs.

If the Intel Arc Pro B-series solution can work well with Windows Server, I will choose more Intel B50 or B60 cards.

Now we continue relying on NVIDIA's cards, cause they've already provided a comprehensive support and docs on Windows Server with Ampere, Ada lovelace and Blackwell architecture based cards.

4. Guest VMs run ffmepg for video transcoding, and Windows OS are used for 3D workloads.

5. Hope to see a certain routemap for the SR-IOV support on Windows Server, including drivers, management tools, and docs.

Hi LTSN,

Thank you for providing the detailed information about your use case and requirements. I appreciate you taking the time to explain your VDI, remote streaming, and video transcoding needs, as well as your current testing results with Linux SR-IOV implementation.

Your specific requirements are very clear:

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and remote streaming applications

Windows Server 2025 environment

Video transcoding workloads with ffmpeg

3D workloads in guest VMs

Need for comprehensive Windows Server SR-IOV support including drivers, management tools, and documentation

I understand the importance of having a Windows Server solution that matches the comprehensive support NVIDIA currently provides for their Ampere, Ada Lovelace, and Blackwell architecture cards.

I will be checking this internally to get you accurate information about the roadmap for SR-IOV support on Windows Server for the Intel Arc Pro B-series cards. Once I have detailed information available, I'll get back to you with specifics about driver availability, management tools, and documentation timeline.

Thank you for your patience while I gather this information.

Best regards,

Dean R.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi LTSN,

Thank you for your patience while I researched the SR-IOV support capabilities for Intel Arc Pro B50 on Windows Server for your VDI, remote streaming, and video transcoding requirements.

After thorough investigation, I have the following information regarding your inquiry:

Intel Arc Pro B50 does support SR-IOV functionality, but only on Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux Ubuntu 24.04.02 starting with kernel 6.11. Unfortunately, Windows Server OS is not supported for Intel Arc Pro B50.

I understand this may not be the answer you were hoping for, especially given your current Windows-based infrastructure and the migration costs associated with moving to Linux. However, Intel Arc Pro is specifically designed to empower professionals in content creation and AI development, with our focus on delivering exceptional performance and features tailored to individual and creative professional needs rather than server virtualization environments.

For your VDI, remote streaming, and video transcoding workloads on Windows Server 2025, you may need to consider alternative solutions or evaluate whether Windows 10/11 environments could meet your virtualization requirements.

I apologize that we cannot provide the Windows Server SR-IOV support you need for your infrastructure. If you have any other questions about Intel Arc Pro capabilities on supported operating systems, please feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Dean R.

Intel Customer Support Technician
