      <title>Intel Arc B580 driver issues on Ubuntu</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Dear intel Support team,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have recently upgraded my Arc A750 to Arc B580 and since the upgrade i face issues with Ubuntu.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Arc750 was working fine on Ubuntu 24 and after i upgraded to B580 i faced driver issues.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I did follow the guide on&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html" target="_blank"&gt;https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;and attempted to install new drivers however packages failed couldn't fix this.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Screen is flickering every few minutes randomly confirming driver comparability issues !&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then i decided to upgrade Ubuntu to 25.10 which is recommended for native support however issue persists.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Error messages are:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;$clinfo | grep "Device Name"&lt;BR /&gt;Device Name Intel(R) Arc(TM) B580 Graphics&lt;BR /&gt;Device Name Intel(R) Arc(TM) B580 Graphics&lt;BR /&gt;Device Name Intel(R) Arc(TM) B580 Graphics&lt;BR /&gt;Device Name Intel(R) Arc(TM) B580 Graphics&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;$sudo dpkg --configure -a&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Setting up intel-platform-vsec-dkms (2023.20.0-21) ...&lt;BR /&gt;/var/lib/dpkg/info/intel-platform-vsec-dkms.postinst: 1: dkms: not found&lt;BR /&gt;/var/lib/dpkg/info/intel-platform-vsec-dkms.postinst: 2: dkms: not found&lt;BR /&gt;dpkg: error processing package intel-platform-vsec-dkms (--configure):&lt;BR /&gt;installed intel-platform-vsec-dkms package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127&lt;BR /&gt;Setting up intel-platform-cse-dkms (2023.11.1-36) ...&lt;BR /&gt;/var/lib/dpkg/info/intel-platform-cse-dkms.postinst: 1: dkms: not found&lt;BR /&gt;/var/lib/dpkg/info/intel-platform-cse-dkms.postinst: 2: dkms: not found&lt;BR /&gt;dpkg: error processing package intel-platform-cse-dkms (--configure):&lt;BR /&gt;installed intel-platform-cse-dkms package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127&lt;BR /&gt;Errors were encountered while processing:&lt;BR /&gt;intel-platform-vsec-dkms&lt;BR /&gt;intel-platform-cse-dkms&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please kindly advise how to proceed to fix this !&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

If DKMS is not installed, did you attempt to install it using:&amp;nbsp;sudo apt install dkms&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;3. Which installation method from the Intel guide did you follow?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;Followed steps 1,1,3 and 4 mentioned here &lt;A href="https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;4. Did you completely remove the previous Arc A750 drivers before installing the B580 drivers?&amp;nbsp;Please confirm whether a full &lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;cleanup was performed.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;Initially i did not perform full cleanup and upon hardware upgrade, Ubuntu lost the Graphic settings and resolutions completely.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;i had to force PCIE gen3 on the bios to recover. however now that seems not significant.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;Upon troubleshooting, later i cleaned up and re-installed the driver with no change.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;screen is flickering very few minutes and file windows and text editors change colors as i open up !&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;5. What exact error messages appeared during the driver package installation, prior to the dpkg --configure errors?&amp;nbsp;Providing the full error output will help diagnose the issue.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;I remember seeing this error many times:&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;6. Is this a clean hardware swap, or are both GPUs (Arc A750 and B580) installed simultaneously?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&lt;FONT color="#008000"&gt;Clean hardware swap only B580 is installed.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;7. Are you using any external monitors? Could you please share a short video demonstrating the issue? Ideally, include a screen recording so we can verify whether this is a driver-related problem or a hardware issue. Additionally, please note that version 25.10 is not officially supported by the graphics card.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If possible, let me know if you can try using Ubuntu 25.04.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Dear Kent, i will endeavour to setup Ubuntu 24.04 and test drivers again if i get a chance.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm happy to inform that error due to driver issues are resolved after removal and re-install of both DKMS and drivers so i'm not getting post-installation script errors anymore.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also i'm getting superb performance in Windows OS from of this GPU and no problems so far in Windows what so ever.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Only on Ubuntu i get random monitor flickering which i think its related to PCIe GEN detection and compatibility. Windows is very forgiving on this well Linux is not ! that said, never had any issues with A750.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Anyways, please provide me URL on officially supported Linux versions on B580 and i will keep an eye on that.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also i use B580 as interim GPU until new Intel Arc with 16G dedicated get released hopefully next year so an update on that also would be appreciated.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Shahin&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Dear Dean, Thank you so much for your follow up.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;At this point its not easy for me to roll back to Ubuntu&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;24.04&amp;nbsp;due to dual boot considerations.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Issue i'm facing is not Driver related but its to do with battle-image architecture&amp;nbsp;c&lt;SPAN&gt;ompatibility&lt;/SPAN&gt; with PCIe GEN detection in linux. only observable when ubuntu is running and when i boot in Windows, works perfect no problem what so ever.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;I appreciate If you could provide me URL on officially supported Linux versions for B580 so i can track that for updates.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;If i need any further help, i will raise dedicated support case respectfully.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;Many Thanks,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;Shahin&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class=""&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
