PC Numpty here. My PCP cant be upgraded tp W11 so a new one is in the offing. Want a good home based desktop but I'm stuck on graphics options.

I don't do gaming but I do edit photo's etc. (hobbyist). My laptop (i7) has Iris Xe Is and occasionally 'stalls' before completion of a few tasks. What can I specify to improve this.

I realise that new will knock the spots of anything I'm doing now but is ARC an option to consider and is it onboard or a separate item, and if so who is making PC's with ARC. Is there anything between Iris Xe and ARC.

I tried to read up on stuff before posting but I have a form of dyslexia and I got no where.

thanks.

Hello JohnN71,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

May I know if you are planning to upgrade your CPU or if you’re considering purchasing a discrete graphics card? Are you looking for recommendations on which graphics solution would work best for your needs? Having this information will help me address your concern more accurately.

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate a complete copy of the System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Jed G.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Many thanks, talking way above my paygrade. I'll be looking to replace the whole PC probably with one of the mainstream providers (Dell, HP) or one of the more established U.K. 'independents'. My current one is around 12 years old and a refurbished m/c. It is an i7-4770 3.4ghz 8cpu; HD Graphics 4600. Report attached (with help from son).

Ideally I'd like as simple a solution as possible so ('on board' I believe to be the preferred term) rather than a separate card, so my query is really about understanding the options available to me.

The two independent builds I've looked at offered Graphics Cards that my kids thought was way more than I needed for my usage and I've not seen a DELL or HP with ARC graphics yet.

A new PC, whatever spec., is going to be much better than current but general advice seems to be to use some form of improved graphics for my photo work. I'll be speaking to DELL, HP et al later on. So, really I'm just looking for general consumer advice, that's probably on your site but not that I've found yet.

Thanks.

Hello JohnN71,

Thank you for explaining your concern in detail. If you’re considering replacing or upgrading your entire system, I recommend reaching out directly to the two mainstream brands you mentioned, Dell and HP, so they can suggest a system and specifications that best meet your needs.

Unfortunately, since Dell and HP are third‑party providers, I’m unable to recommend or specify a particular model. However, to further assist you, I can share a list of Intel processors that include integrated graphics for your reference.

Please check this link: Intel processors

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Best regards

Jed G.

Intel Customer Support Technician
