Hello!

Ich have a "Intel HD Graphics 4600-Chip" and use windows 10.

Because I have a problem with the hardware acceleration of my browser, I want to look for the latest driver for this.

Unfortunately, I have problems to find out the version of the installed driver:

The Intel-homepage offers a driver version "15.40.10.64.4300".

About the currently installed driver says the "windows 10-device manager" and the "Intel Graphics Control Panel": Version 20.19.15.4331.

The "Intel-Driver-Update-Utility" presented this results:

"Installed Version: 15.33.38.64.4252" and offers the same Version to download.

Now I'm confused. What is right, what is wrong? Do I have installed the latest driver or not?

Many thanks!

Hello, mountaindreamer:

If you are using a device from an OEM, the recommendation is to download and install the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

This is to avoid loosing any special features or settings provided by them while using the generic drivers from Intel®.

If you would like to confirm you are getting the proper drivers, you can manually install them, here you can find out how:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &...

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25489/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25489/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-

Regards,

Esteban C

Hello Esteban,

thanks for your kind reply!

As I said, I have a problem with the hardware acceleration.

The problem only occurs with the browser firefox if it is enabled. Otherwise I have no video issues and no other problems.

Do you have an idea how I can find out whether it is a hardware or software problem?

If there is more of a HW problem I have to send the computer for repair.
I would like to avoid this.

Thanks for your time!

Hello, mountaindreamer:

After doing some research, I found out this could be an issue directly with the browser, this seems to be present in different platforms, for that reason you could say it is software issue.

By any chance have you looked for updates on this browser? or you could also test the system with a previous version of it.

Some related links:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075688 After upgrading to Windows 10 the Firefox screen and tabs go blank after waking from sleep | Firefox Support Forum | Moz…

http://lifehacker.com/disable-firefoxs-hardware-acceleration-to-fix-slowness-749344037 Disable Firefox's Hardware Acceleration to Fix Slowness (and More)

Regards,

Esteban C
