Hi Christian_A,

I have attached the results of the diagnostics as requested. For transparency, the results are with the latest Intel driver installed on the system (32.0.101.7085). We had the .4255 driver installed on it while it was in production for stability purposes but upgraded to the latest in the event it would yield results that would be helpful to you given it was a version we observed failures on. Other versions, we've seen fail, were 31.0.101.5590, 32,0.101.6129, 32.0.101.7026 and 32.0.101.7084.

On this particular system, there were 17 bug check code 139 events since February 2026.

Please let me know if you need anything else. We are eager to address this and ensure no future drivers being applied to these systems will not cause the behavior to return.

Thank you!

On a Lenovo M70s Gen 3 PC with the Intel UHD Graphics 770 onboard video, we've seen Win11 systems recently begin to BSOD with the bugcheck code 139 when the driver version is beyond 31.0.101.4255. Drivers after this, whether installed from Intel's latest 32.0.101.7085 or Lenovo's 32.0.101.7084 are crashing repeatedly with the dump file indicating that the gpu memory manager reporting a double-remove. This is despite any changes to BIOS versions, Win11 builds (23H2, 24H2, 25H2), Hotfixes/updates, etc. Resetting the driver back to 31.0.101.4255 seems like our only option but we're concerned if the driver gets updated again if the problem will return. Anyone else seeing this?

KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (139)

Hello iridevtwins,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing repeated BSODs on your Lenovo M70s Gen 3 system. To help us better understand and investigate this issue, we would appreciate it if you could provide the following information:

Have you already contacted Lenovo (OEM) regarding this concern? If so, please share any feedback or recommendations they provided.

From which source did you download and install the graphics driver (Intel website, Lenovo support page, or Windows Update)?

Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all residual drivers and installed new drivers?

Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system configuration, please generate and share a report using the Intel® System Support Utility (SSU). This report will provide us with detailed system information needed for further analysis.

How to generate the SSU report:

Download the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows from the official Intel website.

Once downloaded, launch SSU.exe.

Under Scan, check the box for Everything.

Click Scan.

When the scan is complete, click Next.

Click Save, then upload the generated text file here.

If you have any questions while completing these steps, please let us know. We’ll be glad to assist.

Thank you.

Hi and thank you for replying.

I'm working to pull in a system to run diagnostics for you. In the meantime, I wanted to answer your questions:

1. We did not contact Lenovo. Since the problem seemed isolated to your graphics chip and/or driver, we reached out to you first.

2. The latest graphics drivers were downloaded from Lenovo and Intel with no result difference between the two. I believe Lenovo's download was version .7084 while your site offered .7085.

3. We did not use the DDU. However, performing a downgrade to .4255 via the pnputil tool suppressed the BSOD activity altogether seemingly where residual driver files was not a factor. We can try if you think it makes a difference.

Once I have the results from the SSU, I will attach it.

Thanks again!

Hello iridevtwins,

Thank you for your detailed update, I appreciate the information you’ve shared.

I understand that you have already tested both Lenovo and Intel graphics driver versions with no difference in behavior, and that downgrading to version .4255 helped suppress the BSOD activity. This is helpful information for our investigation.

In the meantime, I will wait for the SSU report once you have completed the diagnostics. This will help us better understand your system configuration and identify any potential factors contributing to the issue.

Please feel free to send it over once available, and I’ll continue assisting you from there.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while I work with you on this issue.

Hello iridevtwins,

Thank you for the detailed diagnostics information and for sharing the SSU report. We appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to isolate this behavior across multiple driver versions and Windows builds.

Before we proceed further, please note that the Lenovo M70s Gen 3 is an OEM system. While we will continue to assist with general troubleshooting and analysis, there are cases where the Original Equipment Manufacturer (Lenovo) may need to be involved, as OEMs can introduce platform‑specific customizations, firmware changes, or feature tuning that affects graphics behavior. If the issue persists beyond general troubleshooting, Lenovo would be the appropriate point of contact for OEM‑specific investigation.

Intel® Graphics Driver Support Model – Important Information

For clarity, Intel graphics drivers follow a legacy software support model depending on processor generation:

10th Generation and Older Intel® Processor Graphics

As of July 27, 2022, Intel moved 6th–10th Gen Intel® Processor Graphics (including related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processor graphics) to a legacy support model.

Under this model:

Only critical fixes and security vulnerabilities are addressed.

Driver updates are released on a quarterly cadence or as needed.

11th–14th Generation Intel® Processor Graphics

As of September 19, 2025, Intel moved 11th–14th Gen Intel® Processor Graphics (including related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processor graphics) to a legacy support model.

Under this model:

Intel provides updates only for critical fixes and security vulnerabilities.

Driver releases follow a quarterly cadence, with additional critical releases as required.

Please note that even if a fix is identified by our development teams, such fixes may only be included in Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1 or newer graphics drivers and may not be back‑ported to legacy driver branches applicable to your Intel® UHD Graphics 770.

Would you like to continue with support under these conditions?

Once we have your confirmation, we’ll review the information you’ve provided and determine the best possible next steps for your case.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Brenz L.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi Brenz,

Since the system we're using for the diagnostics was pulled from production and we do not know what the trigger is for the BSOD, attempting to perform a clean uninstall with your utility and installing the latest may not yield whether it resolved the issue or not. Additionally, we've already looked at the events (application and system) around the time of the BSOD and the only BugCheck event was as mentioned previously code 139). There are no display or WHEA-Logger related events and the Kernel-Power events are not deterministic of any issues (informational only during bootup). We will try to reproduce the issue first over the next day or so and see if we can get it to fail. Should we achieve this, we can then try your uninstall instructions and see if we can reproduce it again.

Separately, we're now also working with Lenovo in parallel to run their diagnostics as you recommended. We only have the one system off production to use for this effort, so we are also running their tools on it. We may have to do the diagnostics and testing in series, so we don't complicate the set up further.

We will inform you of their analysis once we receive them or let you know if we successfully reproduced the BSOD. Please keep this open in the meantime.

Thanks.

Hello iridevtwins,

Thank you for the update and for outlining your current approach. We understand the constraints with using a production-pulled system and appreciate you working to reproduce the issue first before applying further changes.

We also acknowledge your parallel engagement with Lenovo and understand the need to run diagnostics in series to avoid impacting the system setup. Please keep us posted on Lenovo’s findings or if you are able to successfully reproduce the BSOD. We will keep this case open in the meantime.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Best regards,

Brenz L.

Intel Customer Support Technician
