Hello

When installing the latest driver, the colors are washed out. Contrast and saturation are lost.

The driver provided by the motherboard manufacturer displays the correct colors. But something wrong with the shaders in Blender.

At first, Windows updated the driver without warning. I reinstalled the manufacturer's driver. Windows updated it again. After several cycles, Windows decided to keep the "outdated" driver and now won't update it.

The Intel Graphics Command Center isn't available even if I install the driver from the Intel website. Even if install the app from the Microsoft Store, I could only access it with the Microsoft driver.

Why do new driver versions cause color issues? How to fix it?

i3-8100, ASUS PRIME H310M-R R2.0

Connection via DVI.

HDMI and DisplayPort are missing.

driver version

26.20.100.6952

31.0.101.2111

31.0.101.2140

source

URL

installed by Windows

URL

correct display colors

✅

❌

❌

Intel Graphics Command Center

❌

*if you're lucky

❌

correct shading in Blender's EEVEE

❌

✅

✅

Hello blenduser,

Thank you for the quick update.

As of July 27th, 2022, Intel will be moving 6th - 10th Gen Intel Processor Graphics and related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processor graphics to a legacy software support model. Intel will provide software support for affected products on critical fixes and security vulnerabilities only. Software updates for these products will move to a quarterly release cadence or with software releases as needed. Only critical fixes and security vulnerabilities will be addressed in quarterly driver releases going forward.

Would like to continue with the support? Please note that even if the issue is fixed by our developers, the fix will only come to Intel Ultra Core Series 1 or newer drivers and will not be included on the driver of your graphics card.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello blenduser,

Thank you for the quick update.

I understand. By the way, have you tried contacting the manufacturer of your system?

Let me also add that there are two kinds of drivers. Intel generic driver that will work for default setup. And the other one is the OEM driver.

OEM system manufacturer can alter/enhance/modify a controller and to enable those modifications, the OEM system manufacturer should release their own driver. That is why, it is recommended to use the OEM driver most of the time.

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

Michael L.

Intel Customer Support Technician

I'll try contacting them, but they'll likely say product support is exhausted and suggest contacting Intel.

It is often reported online as a common problem. Is this a manufacturer-related issue?

For testing purposes, I took a new disk and installed Windows 10. There were no changes: Windows continued to update its driver automatically. Blender had shading issues. If I did the same with DDU, there was no change

I didn't try a different monitor, I tried a different external graphics card. I've always used an external one. After I decided to test the graphics card on the motherboard, I learned about this problem.

I wrote about the DDU and the latest OS in my previous post
