Missing driver functionality

Hello,
I have an i5-11320H with an Iris Xe 96EU.
The Linux version of the drivers for the iGPU show support for vulkan extensions related to int64 atomics like shaderBufferInt64Atomics etc.
They work properly as well, however on windows the drivers do not report support for it. Is this expected behaviour? Can we expect to see support on windows as well?

Linux distribution, kernel version, and Mesa version used during testing
Output of vulkaninfo from both Windows and Linux environments
Whether the issue is observed only in Vulkan capability viewers/tools, or also during actual application execution
Name of the application/workload being used for testing
Any Vulkan validation layer warnings or error messages observed on Windows

Additionally, please let us know if you have tested different Windows graphics driver versions or performed a clean graphics driver installation to verify whether the behavior changes.

Sorry for the late response.

The testing was done on:
Fedora Linux 44 (Workstation Edition)
Kernel 6.19.10-300.fc44.x86_64
Mesa 26.0.3

Output of vulkaninfo from both Windows and Linux attached.

I first noticed this in vulkaninfo then tested it using the following program:

On Linux the program executes everything successfully, on windows it fails and reports no support for the said features.

Thank you for your patience while we investigated the behavior you reported.

After reviewing the issue, we would like to inform you that Intel Iris Xe Graphics does not provide full hardware support for int64 atomic operations.

To maintain compatibility with translation layers such as Proton, VKD3D, and DXVK, Mesa uses the

nir_lower_int64_atomics

implementation to emulate int64 atomic operations in software. This helps provide broader application compatibility; however, it may also introduce some performance overhead.

At this time, this behavior is considered expected and there are no planned changes for this functionality in the near future.

Additionally, please note that this product has transitioned to a legacy software support model. As a result, Intel software updates for this platform will be limited to critical fixes and security vulnerability updates only.
