Intel Atom and Windows 10

I upgraded my Asus VivoTab Smart (which uses the Intel Atom Z2760 processor) from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on release day (Jul 29), and noticed several issues from the get-go, namely the lack of brightness control and the fact that the screen remained backlit while in sleep mode, sucking my tablet's battery dry. Upon further investigation, it appears that Intel has not released drivers for Windows 10 yet for this chipset, and my woes are caused by improper graphics card drivers.

Intel, this chip isn't *that* old just to abandon it quite yet!

Here's my question: Who else needs Windows 10 drivers for Intel integrated graphics, and Intel, why haven't you released them yet?

Get busy please!

Driver availability for the graphics controller on the processor model Z2760 is provided through the computer manufacturer. Intel does not have plans to develop Windows 10 drivers on Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator.

Somehow I do not think so. All of them - Intel and devices manufacturers would prefer us to buy new stuff.

It is just annoying since those hybrids 2 yr ago were very expensive and as it turns out even older machines are working with W10 nicely.

It is really shame that AMD is in the position it is - no we will pay for lack of competitive market.

On the PC side of thing Intel can do whatever it wants and you still have to buy PC with is CPU/SOC.

I find it extremely unprofessional that Intel communicates completely different messages via different media channels:

Here you state development of the driver is not done by Intel - whereas via twitter Intel states that the driver developement is actually onggoing:

Also, the current windows 8.1 GMA driver is copyrighted by Intel (Version 9.14.3.1177) - how can you state that further development is owned by the device manufacturer??

It is Intels responsibility to develop the GMA driver update, since Intel developed the 8.1 Version!

Pls respond - we all are waiting eagerly on this driver to be able to update properly to Win10.

That's great, but if the Z2760 processor was optimized for touch for Windows 8 and 8.1 like it says, then is it really such a stretch to get Windows 10 support for it?

I know my SoC is optimized to work with Windows 8 because my device was one of the first hybrids sold with this system.

My question was about drivers and why is Intel saying different stuff via different channels.

Also, considering how many devices with this SoC (tablets and hybrids) was sold with this SoC would it bankrupt Intel to prepare drivers for us? To emphasize... users that trusted Intel and paid quite a lot of money for first hybrids or tablets with Intel SoC and Windows instead of buying iPad or Samsung device.

My Asus TF801c was priced at 3600 zl that was almost $1000!!!

Please, don't make me regret it!

i agree that is unbelievable that intel/microsoft could be so cavalier in selling so many windows 8 products without any upgrade plans. very bad for their reputations.

my 7 year old dell desktop has gone from vista to windows 7 to windows 10 with no problems.

I can not afford experiments on my Asus Vivo Tab (TF801c). If not all drivers are Win 10 ready than I have to stay with W 8.1 😞
